This black bear was such a joy to watch. This is a juvenile and they are incredibly goofy and curious. They like to test limits and don't have the experience that older bears have. This one was curious enough that he came walking right towards us like he was wanting to join our party. We just kept backing up slowly and calmly said, hey bear!. Which didn't phase him. but, no signs of aggression, irritation or anything he was just genuinely curious. He eventually meandered off into the blackberries again where he continued eating.(Eating berries is his priority right now). Keeping a safe distance, letting them know that you are there (in a relaxed calm way)so that they are not surprised, respecting their area and knowing their cues are important if you encounter one.
