This is the drone fly—often mistaken for a bee, yet belonging to a completely different family of insects known as hoverflies.
At first glance, its striped body and golden coloration mimic the warning patterns of bees. But unlike bees, the drone fly carries no sting. Its defense lies not in aggression, but in disguise.
