Flying from Nairobi, Kenya 🇰🇪 to Harare, Zimbabwe 🇿🇼

Yesterday I landed into Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe. During the flight I got to watch the sunrise over the tallest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro.

Today it’s a 6 hour bus journey to Bulawayo, where I’ll be filming for the next two weeks 🎥

Formed when a giant volcano collapsed millions of years ago, the Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife havens. 🌍

Its unique landscape supports an incredible diversity of wildlife, making it one of the best places on Earth to witness species such as lions, elephants, black and White rhinos and countless others in their natural environment.

World Chimpanzee Day 2026 🐵

We share 98.7% of our DNA with chimpanzees, making them our closest living relatives alongside bonobos. Yet despite that connection, they face increasing threats caused by humans.
Habitat loss, poaching and the illegal wildlife trade continue to drive wild chimpanzee populations into decline.

The illegal pet trade is an issue I’ve documented many times. To capture a single infant chimpanzee for sale, it’s common for multiple members of the troop to be killed. The surviving infant is then trafficked through criminal networks, often enduring unimaginable stress and suffering before reaching a buyer.

Every rescued chimpanzee has a story, but countless others never make it that far.

On this World Chimpanzee Day, it’s worth remembering that protecting chimpanzees means protecting the forests they call home, supporting the organisations working tirelessly to rescue and rehabilitate them, and refusing to support the illegal wildlife trade in any form.

Here’s to a future where our closest relatives can remain where they belong wild and free.

Spent my last few days in Bangkok on assignment with French NGO, Free Life, documenting what’s going on at Bangkok Safari World and Pata Zoo. Two places I filmed at just over two years ago while at university.

Bangkok Safari World - A well known and documented park, infamous for its Orangutan boxing show. The show still continues, as does the Elephant show, the Mahouts can be seen stabbing the elephants with small nails to keep them under control.

Pata Zoo - Another spot in Bangkok known all too well, Bua Noi, a female Gorilla has spent nearly 40 years in a concrete enclosure on the 7th floor of a shopping centre in Bangkok.

Day 4 and 5:

After arriving in Bangkok in the evening, I spent the whole of the next day filming in Bangkok at one of the largest animal markets.

Many of these animals for sale here are being sold illegally, stolen from the wild by poachers, killing the baby animals parents and taking the baby to be sold. The ones not from the wild, these are most likely mass bred in horrific conditions, involving inbreeding and living in filthy conditions.
