Canary Wharf was one of the main port hubs in the 18-20 centuries, when England was a global empire, mother of sea trade, and harboured one of the biggest ports in the world. The wharf is called "Canary" because of the fruits shipped from Canary islands. Nowadays, the enormous modern cargo ships are too big to enter the river Thames far up, they get unloaded outside of London, and the area became a big financial centre.

Krakow.
Most of the pictures were taken at the Zamek na Wawelu. Krakow was the Polish capital, place of coronation and kings residence until the end of the 16th century. Interesting that it was destroyed by Mongols in 1241, and had to be rebuilt, just like Kyiv.

Dover is a convenient strategic spot on the south east of England: from the cliffs, you can see enemy ships sailing from the continent. The first fortifications are as old as 2000 old (England had the biggest amount of Roman bases outside of Italy), and Dover's base was rebuilt and used as a castle and military base throughout centuries: medieval times, Napoleonic wars, WW2, WW2.
