📷 Holy Dormition Cathedral Kyiv ⛪🇺🇦

This cathedral stands in the center of the monastery Pechersk lavra

The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, also known as the Kyivan Caves Monastery, is the oldest monastic complex of Rus. Medieval primary texts reveal that it was founded in 1050-1051 by a man from Liubech named Anthony.

ֹ
The Soviet Army retreated from Kyiv on 16–17 September 1941, mines were placed under the cathedral, and on 3 November it was blown up. The cathedral's reconstruction began in 1998 and was completed in time for its reconsecration during the Ukrainian Independence Day ceremonies in August 2000.

ֹ
Underneath the monastery, you can find the catacombs, spread over twenty hectares and located in the very heart of Kyiv. It's a system of narrow corridors about 1/1½ meters wide and 2/2½ meters high, along with numerous living quarters and underground Chapels

ֹ
Fun fact: Foreign travelers in the 16th–17th centuries wrote that the catacombs of the Lavra stretched for hundreds of kilometers, reaching as far as Moscow.

📷 Campiello de la feltrina 🏦🇮🇹
The word Campiello literally translates to "little square".

You can enter this square by two bridges on each side. The ponte zaguri (infront) and the ponte duodo o barbarigo (position from camera)

ֹ
At this square, you will find 4 shops, a liquor store, a bag store, a gift wrapping store, and a small supermarket with mainly ice cream and cake.

The ponto duodo barbarigo bridge is what you expect with the word DUO in it. It's one out of two, like a siamese twin besides the fact they look a like they share a staircase. The two are meters apart from each other over the same canal.

ֹ
Fun fact: The word ‘ciao’ originated in Venice. Its origins stem from the Venetian greeting ‘s-ciavo vostro’, meaning ‘your slave’.
This was later truncated until it formed the word ‘ciao’!

📷 Bohemian Paradise (Český ráj). 🌋🇨🇿
you can find these vulcanic sandstone pillars called the Pravoch Rocks in the Czech Republic

ֹ
The formations are made of sandstone, initially in the form of a plateau. Since its formation over 60 million years ago, the plateau is eroded by wind and rain into the unique shapes found at the site.

Several of the individual rock towers have inspired names due to their appearances, such as the Leaning Tower, Devil's Kitchen, the Monk, the Elephant, and the Eagle.

ֹ
Fun fact: These marvelous rocks appear in some major blockbusters like Carnival Row, Britannia,
Little Mermaid, Van Helsing, The Mists of Avalon, and the original Hellboy

📷 Autumn on a narrow road in holland🍂🍁

ֹ
This road you can find in Kortehemmen, it is a village in Smallingerland municipality in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 258
ֹ
Fun fact: In autumn, when it gets colder and darker, a cork layer forms at the base of the leaf.
As a result, no more dust/particles is transported to the blade. The chlorophyll granules are slowly broken down, after which the leaf loses its green colour.

📷 Castle Seeburg (schloss Seeburg). 🏰🇨🇭
The Seeburg has stood like a small castle since 1907 on the peninsula of the fishing village of Iseltwald on Lake Brienz

ֹ

This marvelous architectural gem has had a rather interesting history over the years. However, the castle is privately owned and not open to the public.

You can view it from the edge of the lake, or from high up on the hiking trails above, and from the lake, it adds a certain elegance to the little town.

In 1987, the "Seeburg" has been a congress, conference, educational and spa center.

ֹ
Fun fact: a small island in the lake called the Schnäggeninseli, is the only registered island in the canton of Bern, that belongs to Seeburg.

📷  Porthouse of Antwerpen - (havenhuis)🛟🇧🇪

The Port Authority Building, or the Port House, is a government building located in Antwerp, Belgium,
built between 2009 and 2016.
It is located near the area of Eilandje, in the Port of Antwerp Belgium, and acts as the new headquarters of the Antwerp Port Authority, housing various departments.

ֹ
Designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, the building opened in 2016, the year of her death. It is the sole government building designed by Hadid.

The design of the building incorporates the use of a fire station, integrating it into the building. Attached above and connected to the fire station is a contemporary diamond-shaped structure marked by straight edges, with an additional column providing support from the floor.

ֹ
Fun Fact: The expansion resembles the hull of a sailing ship, with a protruding bow and the surface of the facets of a diamond facing the Kattendijk dock.

This is also a reference to Antwerp's association with the diamond industry.

📷  Het paard van Marken (the horse of Marken).⚓🇳🇱
The Lighthouse was built in 1839 and stood on the eastern tip of the island of Marken Holland.
Its light height is 16 meters and has a light range of 9 nautical miles.

ֹ
The first lighthouse in 1700 it was originally a square tower. This was one of three lighthouses
near Marken, which was decided in 1699 to mark the route from the Wadden Sea to Amsterdam.
The towers were equipped with oil lamps.
ֹ
In 1839 the square stone tower was replaced by a round iron one on the old foundation.
Later, a brick building with a house and storehouse was built on the lighthouse, which gave
the tower its characteristic shape.
ֹ
In 1884 the tower received a fog bell. These hammers were driven by a clockwork,
with falling weight in the tower. In 1919 the fog bell was replaced by a foghorn, for this purpose a machine room was built between the lighthouse and the house.
ֹ
Fun Fact: The lighthouse regularly suffers from drifting ice. In 1971, this was so bad that
the tower was pushed a few inches from its place.

📷 Eiffeltower Paris-France (Lightsout). 🗼🇫🇷

The Eiffel Tower is a wrought iron lattice tower. It is named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower.

ֹ

Locally nicknamed "La dame de Fer" (Iron Lady), it was constructed from 1887 to 1889 as the centerpiece of the 1889 World's Fair.

The tower is 330 meters (1,083 ft) High. about the same height as an 81-story building, and the tallest structure in Paris. Its square base measures 125 meters (410 ft) on each side.
During its construction, the Eiffel Tower surpassed the Washington Monument to become the tallest human-made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years until the Chrysler Building in New York City was finished in 1930.

ֹ
Fun fact:
Radio saved the Eiffel Tower from destruction,
Since Eiffel footed 80 percent of the tower’s construction costs, he was permitted to have the structure stand for 20 years in order to recoup his investment before it passed into the hands of the Parisian government,
which planned to disassemble it for scrap metal.

Seeking a way to prove the structure’s strategic utility in a bid to save it, Eiffel erected an antenna atop the tower and financed experiments with wireless telegraphy that began in 1898.

The tower's value in sending and receiving wireless messages, particularly for the French military, caused the
city to renew Eiffel’s concession when it expired in 1909. Today, more than 100 antennae on the tower beam radio
and television broadcasts worldwide.

📷 Mountain road Along Lake Thun (Thunersee). 🏞🇨🇭
An Alpine lake in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland is named after the city of Thun, on its northern shore. At 48.3 km2 (18.6 sq mi) in surface area, it is the largest Swiss lake within a single canton.

ֹ

The lake was created after the last glacial period.
After the 10th century, it split from Lake Brienz, before which the two lakes were combined, known as Wendelsee ("Lake Wendel"). The culminating point of the lake's drainage basin is the Finsteraarhorn at 4,274 meters (14,022 ft) above sea level.

ֹ
Following World War II until 1964, the Swiss Government disposed of unused munitions in Lake Thun. The quantity of munitions dumped is reported to be from 3,000 to more than 9,020 tons.

📷  Saint Mary’s Basilica - Kościół Mariacki  ⛪ 🇵🇱

a  Brick Gothic church adjacent to the Main Market Square in Kraków, Poland. Built-in the 14th century, its foundations date back to the early 13th century and serve as one of the best examples of Polish Gothic architecture

ֹ
Standing 80 m (262 ft) tall, it is particularly famous for its wooden altarpiece carved by Veit Stoss (Wit Stwosz).
Some of its monumental polychrome murals were designed by Poland's leading history painter, Jan Matejko (1898-1891).
In 1978 it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site alongside the Historic Centre of Kraków.

ֹ
Fun Fact: On every hour, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, a trumpet signal - called the Hejnał mariacki - is played from the top of
the taller of Saint Mary's two towers.
The plaintive tune breaks off in mid-stream, to commemorate a famous 13th-century trumpeter who was shot in the throat
while sounding the alarm before a Mongol attack on the city.
The noon-time hejnał is heard across Poland and abroad broadcast live by the Polish national Radio 1 Station
