Travelling can be convenient and comfortable if you stay in hotels or resorts. A downside is that many tourists, especially in Zanzibar, stay in isolated luxury resorts and miss so much about the people who live on the island. I chose to stay in a AirBnB with no hot water but in the middle of the village of Paje and this was definitely worth it. I couldn’t resist discovering my surroundings and stumbled upon two joyful little girls who were happy to show me their school school. This was one of the best experience during my stay in Zanzibar.

Behind every door lies a new mystery. This is especially true in Stone Town, the city were every door looks different and reflects influences which range all across the arabian and indian world.⠀
Behind this door lies something rather unexpected: an artisanal workspace and shop where baobab seeds are processed with sugar and spices. The explosion of exotic tastes is a living testimony why Zanzibar was known as the african Spice Island.⠀

Throwback to our adventures in Zanzibar one year ago. I took this shot at the market in stonetown while we were walking back to take a dala dala (the local buses) to goback to our airbnb. This lady appeared at my right and I felt that I had to take my camera and take a chance. It turned out to be one of my favorite shots of this trip.
