This one wasn’t actually our shoot. Chrispina had booked the session, and we sort of hijacked a few minutes of it, grabbing some behind-the-scenes moments and a couple of beauty shots along the way. That’s what we’re sharing today.

Stacy’s small in stature, but the character is anything but. Not loud, but she carries a full voice in the room. There’s a quiet confidence to her that we genuinely enjoyed being around, even if we were mostly in and out. The team she’d chosen to work with made everything easier too. You could tell she’s someone with real energy, even in the short time we caught her.

Bishop Felician Makarios Phos came in for a personal branding session, brought to us by our friend and longtime client, Mecktilder of WoowMe Jewellery.

We didn’t speak much during the shoot itself. But the reason for it said enough on its own.

Personal branding isn’t reserved for entrepreneurs and executives. Bishop Phos leads Kainos Creation Church in Mwanza, teaching and reaching people well beyond his own congregation through YouTube, WhatsApp, and social media. Whether you’re building a business or building a ministry, how you’re seen still matters. The message deserves images that carry it properly.

Every project succeeds or falls apart based on one thing most people never actually agree on. How are we communicating?

WhatsApp. Email. Phone calls. Most teams just default to whatever’s convenient in the moment, and that’s exactly where things start slipping through the cracks.

We break down the one habit that keeps every project, no matter how many people or how many weeks, running with almost zero friction.

Watch till the end. 🎬

In 2023, we photographed Ambassador Yvonne Khamati. She came to us through our old friend and longtime client, Ibrahim Rwegerera.

The shoot ran about three hours, but it genuinely felt like a few minutes. What stayed with us wasn’t the résumé we’d eventually discover. It was how humble she was, start to finish. The laughter, the stories, the ease she brought into the room.

It was only afterward that we learned exactly who we’d been photographing. Kenya’s youngest ever ambassador. A woman who sat at the East African Legislative Assembly at 22. A career built across diplomacy, foreign service, and continental leadership.

None of that showed up as ego in the room. Just someone who made three hours feel like nothing.

Neema Chamy is on this week’s . The questions was simple : What does retirement actually mean?

Her answer wasn’t the one we expected.

For Neema, retirement isn’t an age. It’s a state where work becomes optional. Where you can choose to work for impact instead of money, or not work at all. But she was quick to point out the part most people skip past. Getting there takes actual planning, starting from your very first paycheck.

She didn’t stop there.

Retro came by the studio with Dieledia, and in just a few minutes we ended up deep in a conversation about color grading. Specifically, the proper use of CST nodes in DaVinci Resolve.

There’s a specific kind of joy that happens when someone finally understands why their grade wasn’t working, and watching that click for him in real time was genuinely fun to be part of.

Today we’re sharing a few photos of Abbas, who was at the studio for the Halisichats podcast we’re producing in collaboration with our longtime friend Anna Chinyoyo.

Here’s the Abbas most of you know. Stock Market Investor. Certified Securities and Trading Professional. Certified Financial Educator.

Here’s the Abbas we knew. A creative at heart, someone we borrowed a screen from for years. On my phone, he was saved as “Abbas Screen.” That changed right after this shoot. First thing I did was fix his contact name.

His knowledge and skill when it comes to building, managing, and protecting wealth is impressive. But even better is how articulate he is about it. Credentials on paper are one thing. Hearing him actually break it down is another. Not going to spoil it here. The podcast is coming soon. Make sure you tune in.

Dinah and I met the way most ReLight guests find us. On Instagram.

Her page had that unmistakable energy, the kind that makes you stop scrolling and actually look. I sat with it for a while before I landed on the same conclusion I always do. This one’s a ReLight candidate.

What I didn’t expect was her background. Dinah started as a photographer before she became a product designer. So naturally, I had to ask why she made the switch.

Her answer stayed with me.

“Every day is an opportunity to solve a challenge someone is facing. It’s taking something that doesn’t exist and bringing it to life.”

April 8th, 2017. We’d just wrapped a project and were heading home when we reached out to Tunu Makamula and asked if we could swing by for a quick shoot.

We were deep in our head wrap era at the time. Hooked something up on the spot, no real plan, just an idea and a few minutes of good light.

We never shared these. Shame on us, honestly. Nine years later, here they finally are.
