We saw 6 jaguars today but spent several hours watching and photographing a mother and her cubs. It was so neat to watch their interactions with each other!

Today’s cat count brings us to 12 jaguars in the last 2 1/2 days!

Anteaters have got to be one of the coolest animals I’ve ever encountered! This up close experience with them was so definitely one for the books!

Some fun facts about Anteaters: they don’t have any teeth, and actually swallow their food whole. Their tongues are super sticky, are covered in tiny backward-pointing pines, and grow up to 2 feet in length. Anteaters can eat about 35,000 ants per day! Anteaters have long, sharp claws and can successfully fend off a hungry jaguar!
Adult jaguars do successfully hunt giant anteaters when they manage a complete surprise attack or when they are experienced specialized hunters in open grassland habitats. However, a direct face-to-face confrontation with a giant anteater is a massive gamble for the cat.

We sat and watched these cats from our boat for quite some time today. They lounged in the shade of the trees, on the limbs, and along the riverbank. Can’t wait to share the photos with you all, but in the meantime, enjoy this quick video I got!

Our lodge puts fresh bananas out for the Toucans every day and they love their little breakfast snacks!

We spent some time this morning watching this gorgeous jaguar as he waded along the bank! This entire trip has been such an incredible experience! We’ve seen so many jaguars while on safari and have gotten some sick shots of them! Can’t wait to share more once our WiFi connection is more stable. 😆

Birds of a feather 🦅

It’s been a great year for RPE!
We’ve photographed some incredible birds over the last 12 months. From the plains of the Serengeti, to the jungles of India and Brazil, to the rugged terrain of Alaska, we’ve filled our passports with stamps from all over and we’ve checked off several bucket list items! 🤩

Deep in the heart of Brazil and completely mesmerized by the wildlife. Photographing these majestic macaws in their natural habitat has been incredible!
