Have you ever stood somewhere and felt like time slowed down a little? 🕊️✨

This was one of those moments.

Shot at Kariye Mosque in Istanbul, a place that carries centuries inside its walls. Originally built as the Chora Church during the Byzantine era, it’s known for its incredible mosaics and layers of history that somehow still feel alive today. 🏛️

And this is Selva… my wife. 🤍
Not posing, not trying, just being there. That’s what made this moment feel real.

There’s something about this place. The light hits differently, softer somehow. You don’t rush here. You just stand, look around, and feel it. Watching her in that quiet atmosphere made me realize how powerful simple moments can be.

No big story, no setup… just a moment between history, light, and someone you love.

If you’re ever in Istanbul, Kariye isn’t just somewhere to visit. It’s somewhere to pause.

What’s a place that made you slow down like this? 🌍

Hiç bulunduğun bir yerde zamanın biraz yavaşladığını hissettin mi? 🕊️✨

Have you ever felt a voice take you somewhere you have never been before? 🎤✨

Burcu Yeşilbaş brings exactly that feeling to the stage. Deeply rooted in Turkish folk music, her sound carries the spirit of türkü, Anatolian melodies, and traditional storytelling into a modern live performance experience. 🌿

These moments are from her performance at İBB Şile Kültür Merkezi. A space where tradition meets atmosphere and every note feels personal. From emotional storytelling to strong vocal control, her interpretation of Turkish folk repertoire feels both intimate and timeless. 🎶

There is something powerful about live music when it stays true to its roots. No filters, no distractions. Just voice, emotion, and connection.

If you are into Turkish folk music, türkü culture, live concerts, and authentic storytelling, this is an energy you should definitely experience.

Which song instantly takes you somewhere else? 🤍

Köklerine sadık kalan canlı müziğin ayrı bir gücü var. Filtre yok, dikkat dağıtıcı yok. Sadece ses, duygu ve bağ.

Eğer Türk halk müziği, türkü kültürü ve canlı performans ruhu ilgini çekiyorsa, bu tam senlik.

Seni bir anda başka bir yere götüren şarkı hangisi? 🤍

Some musicians don’t just play rhythm.
They *become* the rhythm. 🥁✨

Last night at Zorlu Turkcell Platinum Sahne, I had the chance to photograph the legendary Turkish percussion master Burhan Öçal during the Crossing Bosphorus Trio concert in Istanbul.

Burhan Öçal is one of the most internationally recognized Turkish percussionists, known for redefining how traditional Anatolian and Middle Eastern rhythms interact with jazz and world music. Throughout his career he has collaborated with countless global artists and has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages.

What makes his music unique is the way he bridges cultures. His sound blends Turkish classical music, Ottoman rhythms, jazz improvisation and world percussion traditions into something completely his own.

As the founder of the Crossing Bosphorus Trio, Burhan Öçal brings together musicians from different musical backgrounds to create a dialogue between cultures and styles. During this performance he shared the stage with Swiss jazz bassist Heiri Känzig and British pianist Alex Wilson, forming a powerful trio that moves seamlessly between jazz, world music and improvisation.

Watching Burhan Öçal perform is mesmerizing. Every movement of his hands tells a story, every rhythm carries history, and every moment feels deeply alive.

For a photographer these performances are a gift. Light, rhythm and emotion all meet in a single frame.

Music like this reminds you that rhythm is a universal language. 🌍

Have you ever experienced a live performance where the rhythm completely pulled you in?

Some musicians don’t just play the piano. They build entire worlds with it. 🎹✨

Last night in Istanbul I had the chance to photograph the incredible pianist Alex Wilson during the Crossing Bosphorus Trio concert at Zorlu Turkcell Platinum Sahne.

Alex Wilson is a British pianist, composer and arranger known for blending jazz, Latin, Afro-Cuban rhythms and classical influences into a unique musical language. Born in the UK and raised between Europe and Latin America, Wilson developed a musical identity that connects cultures through rhythm and harmony.

Over the years he has worked with many world-class artists and orchestras, becoming one of the most respected pianists in contemporary jazz and Latin jazz scenes. His performances are known for their energy, technical brilliance and emotional depth.

During the Crossing Bosphorus Trio performance, the dialogue between musicians was something special to witness. Burhan Öçal shaped the rhythmic landscape with his distinctive percussion style while Swiss jazz bassist Heiri Känzig grounded the music with deep, expressive bass lines. At the center of this musical conversation, Alex Wilson’s piano carried melody, harmony and improvisation all at once.

Watching him perform live is mesmerizing. The precision of his hands, the intensity of his focus and the flow between written composition and spontaneous improvisation make every moment feel alive.

For a concert photographer these moments are magic. Music becomes movement, light becomes rhythm and every frame captures a small fragment of the performance.

Jazz is not just about notes. It is about conversation, energy and the connection between musicians and audience. 🎶

Have you ever experienced a live jazz performance that completely pulled you into the music? 😇

Some musicians do not just perform music. They carry decades of experience and emotion in every note. 🎶

Last night in Istanbul I had the chance to photograph legendary Swiss jazz bassist Heiri Känzig performing at Zorlu Turkcell Platinum Sahne as part of Burhan Öçal’s Crossing Bosphorus Trio.

Born in New York in 1957 and raised in Switzerland, Heiri Känzig has become one of the most respected bass players in European jazz. Over the decades he developed a distinctive style that blends deep groove, melodic storytelling and fearless improvisation.

Throughout his career he has collaborated with influential artists such as Billy Cobham, Trilok Gurtu, Charlie Mariano and Pierre Favre. His music moves freely between modern jazz, world music and experimental sound, making each performance feel alive and spontaneous.

Seeing Känzig perform live is something special. Every movement on the bass feels intentional, every note carries weight, and the entire stage seems to breathe with the rhythm.

At Zorlu Turkcell Platinum Sahne the Crossing Bosphorus Trio created a beautiful musical dialogue. Burhan Öçal guided the rhythmic heartbeat of the performance while pianist Alex Wilson added harmonic depth and energy, allowing Känzig’s bass to anchor the entire experience.

For a concert photographer these moments are priceless. Capturing a musician completely immersed in the music is where photography and sound meet.

Jazz is not just music. It is conversation happening in real time. 🎷✨

Have you ever experienced a live jazz performance that completely pulled you into the moment?

Natural light portrait photography in Büyükada, Princes’ Islands, Istanbul ✨🌊🤍

This portrait series was created using only window light, soft shadows, and minimal composition to explore natural light photography and lifestyle portrait storytelling. Büyükada, one of the calmest island locations near Istanbul, offers textured interiors and ambient light that make it perfect for cinematic portrait photography in Turkey 📍🌿

No artificial lighting. No studio setup.
Just window light, shadow lines, and expression 💫

When mood, location, and subject align, something quietly powerful happens.

The life is about enjoying moments like this.

Captured on the Marmaris beach, this video shows a street acrobat juggling bowling pins under the warm Aegean sun — pure proof that joy lives in motion. Between the sound of waves and laughter, this is where travel meets art.

Filmed as part of my travel videography series in Turkey, showcasing spontaneous street performances, beach culture, and creative souls across the coast.
