📸 Istanbul Photography Guide: What You Need to Know! 🇹🇷
Planning to capture the magic of Istanbul? While the city is a paradise for street photography (no general permit needed!), there are a few important rules to keep in mind to avoid trouble:

🏛️ Palaces, Museums & Historic Sites
Many historical sites like Topkapı Palace and the Basilica Cistern ban the use of tripods and flash. Some indoor museum exhibitions prohibit photography completely to protect historical artifacts. Always check the signs at the entrance!

🛑 Government & Military Buildings
This is a strict rule: Do not take photos of military installations, government buildings, or police officers. Keep your camera down in these areas.

🏨 5-Star & Luxury Hotels
Thinking of a glamorous lobby photoshoot? Most 5-star hotels do not allow professional photography (with DSLR cameras, lighting, or outfit changes) in their rooms or common areas to protect the privacy of their guests. You’ll need prior written management approval.

🕌 Mosques
You are welcome to take photos, but respect is key. No flash, no tripods, and avoid taking photos during active prayer times. Never photograph worshippers without their explicit permission.

🚁 A Note on Drones
Leave the drone at home! Flying drones over the Bosphorus, historic peninsula, and most central areas is highly restricted and requires a local aviation (SHGM) permit, which is virtually impossible for tourists to get.
