Saturn night: Enceladus caught in transit with its shadow on the cloud tops, Tethys and Mimas nearby, and a bright white spot in the southern hemisphere.

Captured on two setups, the Dobsonian 400mm and the C14 EdgeHD, across several filters.

Mahdia, Ksour Essef, Chebba, Kerkennah, Sfax, Djerba et Gabès sont sur la ligne de totalité. Résultat : les hôtels se remplissent déjà, plus d'un an à l'avance.

Saturn – Color and luminance from two complementary setups

This Saturn image is the result of a collaborative capture using two different optical setups in a complementary way.

The 16-inch Sky-Watcher Dobsonian was used to acquire the color data through a UV/IR-cut filter, while the Celestron C14 EdgeHD provided the luminance and high-contrast detail through Baader R’, G’ photometric filters and an IR642 filter.

Both datasets were processed independently before being carefully combined. The color information from the Dobsonian gives the image its natural chromatic balance, while the C14 luminance data brings additional definition to the rings, the Cassini division, and the subtle atmospheric structures on the globe.

The final result aims to preserve a realistic planetary appearance while taking advantage of the specific strengths of each instrument.

Saturn captured on June 23rd, 2026, at 03:31 UTC under average seeing conditions.
This image was produced using a dual-telescope setup: a Celestron C14 EdgeHD / GTR Trident JTW Astronomy for natural color and IR642 infrared data, and a 16-inch Sky-Watcher Dobsonian for additional detail through Baader R’ and G’ photometric filters.
All datasets were processed separately and carefully combined to create a realistic image of Saturn, taking advantage of the resolution, contrast, and spectral complementarity of both instruments.
