Pink Moon over the night sky 🌕✨

Despite its name, the moon doesn’t truly turn pink.
It takes its name from the soft pink wildflowers that bloom at this time of year, quietly announcing the arrival of spring.

A calm, glowing reminder that nature is always moving, always renewing… even in the silence of the night.

This is the Greater Coucal — but he almost looks like a wizard guarding the forest.
With his brown wings, dark shiny feathers and long tail, it feels like he’s holding a staff, ready for magic.
A common bird in Thailand, yet always full of mystery with his deep morning calls. 🌿🪄

✨ The Indochinese Roller (Coracias affinis) — yesterday I showed its calm portrait, but here comes the real spectacle.
In flight, turquoise and indigo light up the sky like fire. 💙
And for the last one… let’s just say he wasn’t too happy about the paparazzi. 📸😂

✨ The Indochinese Roller (Coracias affinis) — common across Asia, yet never ordinary. Resting on its perch, its vibrant plumage hides the spectacle of turquoise and indigo waiting to unfold in flight. 💙
Stay tuned — in my next post, I’ll reveal the Roller in full flight.

Rainy morning today! I captured this greater coucal as it tried to escape the rain
You can tell it wasn’t happy at all.
Looks like it doesn’t enjoy the rain any more than the tourists do during the high season here on Koh Phangan, Thailand.

Fun fact : The greater coucal (Centropus sinensis) is a large bird that looks like a crow and lives in South and Southeast Asia. It is known for its spooky, low “hoop-hoop-hoop” call, which gets louder during the rainy season. Unlike other birds in the cuckoo family, it doesn’t lay eggs in other birds’ nests. Instead, it makes its own nest and raises its chicks, which is quite unusual for cuckoos!

Dragonflies are nature’s flying jewels, blending grace and precision with vibrant tropical colors. Captured in ultra-fine detail on the island of Koh Phangan, these photos reveal the hidden beauty and intricate world of these mesmerizing creatures.

Fun facts about dragonflies :
1. Ancient fliers: Dragonflies have been around for about 300 million years. During the time of the dinosaurs, some species had wingspans of up to 70 cm!
2. Panoramic vision: Their compound eyes cover almost their entire head, giving them nearly 360° vision. They can spot even the tiniest movements, making them expert hunters.
3. Super predators: Dragonflies are among the most efficient hunters in the animal kingdom, with a 95% success rate when catching prey mid-air.
4. Aerial acrobatics: They can fly in all directions, including backward, and even hover in place. Their four wings move independently, allowing for incredible maneuverability.
5. Aquatic beginnings: Before becoming the elegant fliers we admire, dragonflies spend most of their lives underwater as nymphs, sometimes for years, before transforming.
6. Harmless to humans: Despite their fierce looks, dragonflies don’t sting or bite humans. They’re completely harmless to us.
7. Symbolic creatures: In many cultures, dragonflies symbolize change, transformation, and adaptability, often representing a deeper connection to nature.
