Ramny Takes Pictures

Ramny Takes Pictures I take pictures sometimes. http://ramny.net Sort of like an online professional portfolio. Except I'm not a professional. I take pictures for fun.

I don't have the best camera or the most expensive lenses, but I make do with what I have.

The moat around this temple was wide enough to look like a river, and near the bridge is a half-naked Cambodian man hunting for fish. I don't remember which temple ruins this was, but I do remember it was quite a trek getting to it. Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Angkor Wat at dawn, just minutes before sunrise.

It was going to be an all day trek this day, so I hesitated bringing a tripod. I did anyway. It was a pain to lug it everywhere, but it was worth it.

About an hour from the town of Kanchanaburi is the seven-tiered Erawan Falls. On one of the tiers a local resident sat on the rocks, almost in meditation, as the falling water went around his body. Despite the extremely hot weather, the water was was still very chilly.

The winning photo that started it all (again), taken in alley along Khlong Saen Saeb. This man had just gotten up from sleep and watched me as I walked by. I asked him for a photograph and he acknowledged without saying a word.

On the way to the amphitheatre-shaped Batad Rice Terraces in Ifugao, Philippines is a house literally built on a cliff. Locally called the “Hanging House,” it is both a handicraft/gift shop and a residence for a young family. Inside, the mother explained (in the Ifugao language which had to be translated by our guide), that the house was built by her husband and that it has withstood storms and earthquakes.
