บันทึกความทรงจำ...เมื่อ “ผ้า” เล่าเรื่องชาติ ณ หอรัษฎากรพิพัฒน์
วันที่ ๒๗ ตุลาคม พ.ศ. ๒๕๕๘: วันนี้เป็นวันที่ผมได้จารึกไว้ในความทรงจำ ไม่เพียงแต่การมีโอกาสได้เข้าสู่เขตพระบรมมหาราชวังเพื่อร่วมพิธีสำคัญของชาติ แต่ยังเป็นวันที่ผมได้สัมผัสกับงานศิลป์อันละเอียดอ่อน ซึ่งเปรียบเสมือนลมหายใจของความเป็นไทย
เช้าตรู่วันนั้น ผมมุ่งหน้าไปยัง ศาลาสหทัยสมาคม เพื่อลงนามถวายอาลัยในเหตุการณ์สำคัญของประเทศ บรรยากาศภายในพระบรมมหาราชวังเต็มไปด้วยความสงบและสำรวม การได้ยืนอยู่ในสถานที่ศักดิ์สิทธิ์และร่วมแสดงความเคารพอย่างพร้อมเพรียงกับประชาชนนับพัน เป็นประสบการณ์ที่ซาบซึ้งและเติมเต็มความรู้สึกเป็นหนึ่งเดียวในฐานะคนไทย
👑 จากศาลาสู่ศูนย์กลางแห่งอาภรณ์: พิพิธภัณฑ์ผ้าฯ
หลังเสร็จสิ้นการลงนาม ผมได้ตัดสินใจเดินต่อไปยัง พิพิธภัณฑ์ผ้าในสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าสิริกิติ์ พระบรมราชชนนีพันปีหลวง ซึ่งตั้งอยู่ ณ หอรัษฎากรพิพัฒน์ อาคารสีขาวสง่างามภายในเขตพระราชฐานชั้นนอก เมื่อก้าวเข้าไปด้านใน โลกแห่งเส้นใยอันประณีตและเรื่องราวทางประวัติศาสตร์ก็เปิดต้อนรับ
ที่นี่ไม่ใช่เพียงแค่การจัดแสดงเสื้อผ้า แต่คือการรวบรวม 'สิริราชพัสตรา' หรือฉลองพระองค์อันงดงามที่เคยเป็นแรงบันดาลใจและเป็นเครื่องบ่งชี้พระราชกรณียกิจของสมเด็จพระพันปีหลวงตลอดหลายทศวรรษ
ความหมายที่ถักทอในทุกเส้นไหม
ผมได้มีโอกาสเข้าชมฉลองพระองค์หลากหลายชุดที่พระบรมวงศานุวงศ์ทรงเคยสวมใส่ สิ่งที่ตราตรึงใจที่สุดคือการได้เห็น ความละเอียดของการถักทอในแต่ละวาระโอกาส
* ฉลองพระองค์แบบสากลที่ผสานผ้าไทย: มีการจัดแสดงชุดราตรีและฉลองพระองค์ที่ทรงสวมใส่ในการเสด็จฯ เยือนต่างประเทศในช่วงปี พ.ศ. ๒๕๐๓–๒๕๔๓ ซึ่งเป็นหลักฐานเชิงประวัติศาสตร์ที่แสดงให้เห็นถึงพระปรีชาสามารถในการ ยกระดับผ้าทอมือพื้นบ้านของไทยให้ก้าวสู่เวทีแฟชั่นระดับโลก ทรงเป็นดั่ง "ทูตวัฒนธรรม" ที่นำความวิจิตรของผ้าไหมมัดหมี่ ผ้าไหมแพรวา และผ้าทอจากโครงการศิลปาชีพให้เป็นที่ประจักษ์
* ชุดไทยพระราชนิยม: ผมได้เห็นชุดไทยประเภทต่างๆ ที่มีความหมายและโครงสร้างที่แตกต่างกันอย่างชัดเจน เช่น ชุดไทยจักรพรรดิ ที่สง่างามด้วยผ้าไหมยกลายและสไบปักทอง หรือ ชุดไทยศิวาลัย ที่เหมาะกับงานพิธีที่เป็นทางการ แต่ละชุดถูกออกแบบมาเพื่อวาระที่เฉพาะเจาะจง ซึ่งสะท้อนถึงการฟื้นฟูและสืบสานอาภรณ์ประจำชาติได้อย่างลงตัว
✨ ฉลองพระองค์แห่งพระราชพิธีสำคัญ
สิ่งที่น่าสนใจเป็นพิเศษคือส่วนจัดแสดงที่เกี่ยวข้องกับพระราชพิธีสำคัญแห่งราชสำนักไทย ผมได้มีโอกาสได้เห็นชุด หรือ ฉลองพระองค์ที่ พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ ๑๐ ทรงเคยฉลองพระองค์ในพระราชพิธีบรมราชาภิเษก ซึ่งแม้จะเป็นคนละเหตุการณ์กับวันที่ผมเข้าชม (พ.ศ. ๒๕๕๘) แต่การได้เห็นฉลองพระองค์ที่เต็มไปด้วยรายละเอียดของการปักและการทอตามโบราณราชประเพณีนั้น ทำให้ผมรู้สึกถึง ความต่อเนื่องของมรดกวัฒนธรรม อันศักดิ์สิทธิ์ที่ถูกส่งต่อมาหลายยุคสมัย
ผ้าแต่ละผืนที่จัดแสดง ไม่ได้เป็นเพียงวัตถุ แต่คือเรื่องราวของช่างฝีมือชาวบ้านผู้ทอผ้าจากทั่วประเทศ ซึ่งได้รับโอกาสและชีวิตใหม่จากพระเมตตาของสมเด็จพระพันปีหลวง ที่ทรงมีพระราชปณิธานในการอนุรักษ์ศิลปะการทอผ้าไทยให้คงอยู่สืบไป
การเยี่ยมชมพิพิธภัณฑ์ผ้าในวันนี้ จึงไม่ใช่แค่การชมความงามของอาภรณ์ แต่เป็นการเดินทางย้อนรอยประวัติศาสตร์แฟชั่นและวัฒนธรรมของชาติไทย ที่ถักทอด้วยความรัก ความวิริยะ และพระอัจฉริยภาพของสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าสิริกิติ์ พระบรมราชชนนีพันปีหลวงอย่างแท้จริง
Recording Memories... When "Textiles" Narrate the Nation at the Ratsadakorn Phiphat Hall
October 27, B.E. 2558 (2015): This day is etched in my memory, not just for the opportunity to enter the Grand Palace grounds to participate in a significant national ceremony, but also because it was the day I encountered delicate artistry that is the very breath of Thainess.
That early morning, I headed to the Sahathai Samakhom Pavilion to sign the book of condolences following a major national event. The atmosphere within the Grand Palace was one of profound tranquility and reverence. Standing in this sacred place, collectively showing respect alongside thousands of people, was a moving experience that filled me with a sense of unity as a Thai person.
👑 From the Pavilion to the Center of Royal Garments: The Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles
After completing the signing, I decided to walk over to the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles, located in the Ratsadakorn Phiphat Hall, an elegant white building within the Outer Court of the palace compound. Upon stepping inside, a world of exquisite fibers and historical narratives opened up to welcome me.
This is not merely an exhibition of clothing; it is a collection of 'Siri Ratcha Phusadorn' (Royal Garments), or the stunning ensembles that have inspired and illustrated the royal duties of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother over several decades.
The Meaning Woven into Every Thread
I had the opportunity to view a variety of royal gowns worn by members of the Royal Family. What was most captivating was seeing the intricacy of the weave for each specific occasion.
* Western-Style Gowns Integrated with Thai Textiles: On display were evening gowns and royal ensembles worn during state visits abroad between B.E. 2503–2543 (1960–2000). These serve as historical evidence demonstrating Her Majesty's brilliance in elevating native hand-woven Thai fabrics onto the global fashion stage. She was truly a "Cultural Ambassador" who brought the exquisite beauty of Mudmee (Ikat) silk, Pha Phrae Wa silk, and woven textiles from the SUPPORT Foundation projects to international recognition.
* Thai Phra Ratcha Niyom (Thai Royal Preferred Dress) Sets: I saw various types of Thai national dress, each with a distinct meaning and structure. For example, the Thai Chakkraphat set, grand with its figured silk brocade and gold-embroidered Sabai (shawl), or the Thai Siwalai set, suitable for formal ceremonies. Each ensemble was designed for specific occasions, beautifully reflecting the revival and continuation of the national attire.
✨ Royal Garments from Important Ceremonies
Of particular interest was the section related to major Thai royal ceremonies. I had the chance to see a royal gown/ensemble that His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X) had worn for the Royal Coronation Ceremony. Though the event was different from the day of my visit (B.E. 2558), seeing the garment—rich with details of traditional embroidery and weaving—made me feel the continuity of the sacred cultural heritage passed down through generations.
Each displayed textile is not just an object; it is a story of the local artisans and weavers from across the country who received a new life and opportunity through the benevolence of the Queen Mother, whose royal aspiration was to preserve the art of Thai weaving for posterity.
My visit to the Museum of Textiles today was, therefore, more than just admiring beautiful garments; it was a journey through the history of Thai fashion and culture, truly woven together with the love, diligence, and genius of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
