The Dvaravati Civilization : The Foundation of Art and Ancestry in Thailand 🇹🇭✨
"Dvaravati" is regarded as a paramount ancestral civilization that laid the foundation for Theravada Buddhism in Thailand. Subsequent Thai kingdoms adopted and adapted its core beliefs and artistic styles—such as the construction of stupas and Buddha images—seamlessly integrating them into what has become the distinct Thai identity of today.
As the Tai people expanded their influence into the Chao Phraya River basin, the indigenous Dvaravati population did not simply disappear. Instead, they intermarried, integrated, and culturally assimilated with the newly arrived Tai groups.
Consequently, modern Thai people are descendants who carry the genetic and cultural lineage of the Dvaravati. Through this profound ethnic and cultural amalgamation, Dvaravati stands as a true "ancestor" to both the land of Thailand and its people.........................................................
