On World Photography Day, I’m reminded why I picked up a camera in the first place: to witness, to preserve, and to share ways of life that exist far beyond my own.
In the winter forests of northern Mongolia, I spent time with the Tsaatan, one of the world’s last reindeer herding communities. The first image shows a man taking a quiet break during a hunt, smoking in the snow with his reindeer beside him. A small, unguarded moment that says as much about this way of life as the journey itself.
Here, generations grow up alongside the reindeer, moving through a landscape where tradition, family and survival remain deeply intertwined.
Photography has taken me to places I once could only imagine, but its greatest gift has always been the people who allow me into their lives, even if only for a moment.
This October, I’ll be returning to Mongolia with Eyewitness Collective for another photographic journey.
