Here is a waterscape view showing a small rowing boats anchored at shore with the Slanica island, also called the Island of art in the distance; that I captured at respective location during my walks in nearby areas.

The Slanica island is a quite famous natural attraction seated in middle of the Orava reservoir, near Namestovo town in northernmost Slovakia. This island is widely known and it is frequently visited by tourists from many countries because it hosts permanent expositions showcasing traditional folk art of Slovak rural communities and other expositions related to the region of Orava.

By the way, did you know that the Orava reservoir is the largest lake in Slovakia?

It is formed by 35.2 km2 / 21.8 mi2 of the water surface and even because of that it became a very popular holiday destination for travelers, vacationers and fisherman from all around the world, of course, especially during the summer months.

This reservoir is feed by the river Orava and its average depth is about 15 meters / 49.2 feet. The whole locality of the Orava reservoir is protected by the Horna Orava, Protected Landscape Area (CHKO, Horna Orava).

If you will be nearby during any season, be sure to stop there. This locality has so much to offer, both for regular tourists as well as for photographers looking for some natural sceneries.

I simply don't have enough of winter mountains, so here I go again with my series of panoramic views showing the High Tatras, located in the heart of Europe – Slovakia. As you no doubt remember from my previous mountain travel tip here at my Facebook profile; the locality of the Lomnicke Saddle is situated right under the Lomnicky and Kezmarsky peaks.

Today, I thought to myself that I will share with you also the view which can be seen from the top of one of these peaks; from the Lomnicky peak, showing distant outlook of surrounding countryside and endless cloudscape.

Same as the last time, this photo is from the set, which I have taken during an ice-freezing cold day; standing right at the top of the Lomnicky peak. This peak has an impressive altitude of 2634 meters / 8641 feet above the sea-level, making it actually the second highest peak in the High Tatra mountains.

This picture is a hand-held panorama stitched from 2 vertical photos, showing outlook of Slovak and Polish High Tatras. It is because the High Tatras are a mountain range along the border of northern Slovakia, and southern Poland, whereas the borderline can be imagined somewhere in the center of this picture, thus Poland can be seen on the left side of this panorama whereas Slovakia is on the right side.

The Lomnicky peak, which is situated on the Slovak side of High Tatras is a very attractive destination for visitors from all around the world. Especially during the winter time! It is popular even for the recreational tourists due to its easy accessibility by several cable railways leading from its top as far as to the Lomnicke saddle and further down to the Tatranska Lomnica town, and vice versa.

The High Tatra mountins are actually the highest mountain range in the whole Carpathian Mountains, so tourists have a lot of natural attractions and landscapes to explore. These mountains are visited by hundreds of thousands visitors each year, during all seasons. They belong to the Tatras national park, TANAP.

If you happen to be in Slovakia during the wintertime don’t miss marvelous sightseeings from the Lomnicky peak and other hills located in the High Tatras mountain chain, Slovakia.

During the winter season the sight of the Orava Castle is just as majestic as what it is during the warmer weather. The only difference is that the landscape turns into a winter wonderland. People from all over the world still love to come and visit the Orava castle during the cold months just to see what is the castle like during that time of the year.

As you can see during the winter, the land surrounding the Orava castle is more barren and full of the white blanket of snow on the hill. The trees are naked and leafless.

The mentions and the findings of the Orava castle date it all the way back to the year 1267. During this time, the castle only took up a small area of the land, which was made up of only a couple of buildings. All parts of the castle were made of wood; as were most of the castles during this time period. As time went on, there were more floors added to the castle and it extended upwards; using mainly the small area that it was originally built on. So basically all of the rest of the add-ons were vertical. It allowed the castle to be seen from even further away. The upper level of the castle extended at least 112 meters / 367 ft off the limestone rock cliff. The ground floor was built of stone, while the upper floors were made of wood. The middle of the castle was a four story castle during the mid 1300's. Later there more rooms and fortifications were added on for the purpose of the protection and comfort of those who were residing there.

The Orava castle is one of the most popular castles in Slovakia. It is visited by thousands of travelers from all around the world, during all seasons. This castle is also a popular location for filming fairy tale or horror movies. It is located in Orava region, northern Slovakia.

I somehow I still don’t have enough of this waterfall in Lucky village, Slovakia, perhaps because of the winter mood behind windows, so here is again another view of this location; showing the waterfall, portraying its waters more closely as they fall from the waterfall's cliff.

It is again shown in the mood of the cold winter; covered with ice and frost. If you managed to read my previous posts you already know that this waterfall is believed to feature a healing water. It is located in the Lucky village; the municipality in Ruzomberok district, Liptov region, northern Slovakia.

Location of the Lucky is a wide known for its spa houses and resorts founded back in the 18th century. As I already told, most water springs from the Lucky village are believed to have positive effects on various diseases, especially on treatment of female problems and because of that many women visit the Lucky spa houses during all seasons!

Anyway, the last time when I posted autumnal photo of this waterfall on my social accounts, some questions in comments and private messages arose, whether Lucky's village mineral-rich water is * really * healing?!

Well, I am not 100% sure whether these springs are * really * healing, but the village of Lucky is wide famous for its spa houses where women from all around of Slovakia as well as from nearby countries, and perhaps even from distant countries, go for various healing therapies, aimed on treatment of all sorts of female problems, including lack of ability to have a child. As far as I know, combination of these therapies, with so believed, healing water from the springs of Lucky village really helps with these problems somehow. Anyway, these spa houses and healing facilities are successfully operational since 18th century, and since then, there are a lot of examples of couples who finally managed to conceive a child after recreational visits of these spa houses. So, I guess there must be something about it. ;)

Today, I am once again spending the day browsing through my archive of digital photos that I have taken during my trips. Now I am preparing and editing them for final use. Here is a view I captured at the Strbske Pleso lake. This panoramic photo is stitched from 2 vertical photos captured hand-held, without tripod.

It was a cold winter at that time and the location was frozen with ice; as you can see on this picture. However, the sun was shining bright, allowing a very good photography conditions, with the blue sky and brightly light sceneries of interest; one of those things a lot of photographers value the most.

The Strbske Pleso is a second largest glacial lake (tarn) on the Slovak side of High Tatras. This tarn belongs to the Tatras national park, TANAP. The mountains of High Tatras are the most popular natural attraction in Slovakia and they are visited by hundreds of thousands visitors each year; during all seasons.

On the left side, far away in the distance, can be seen the Predne Solisko mountain peak. This peak has an impressive altitude of 2 093 meters / 6866 feet above the sea-level and it is a quite popular tourist destination due to famous ski slope located on the front side of this mountain. In the centrer of the photo can be seen the ski jump from the World Ski Championships that took place in the High Tatra mountains during the winter of the year 1970.

Do you like skiing? A snowy winter is here in Slovakia and I am sure that the lovers of skiing and snowboarding are already enjoying the ski season 2018/2019. On this occasion, I bring you a picture of the Predne Solisko mountain I took in the High Tatras, showing the famous ski slope located on the side of this peak, right by the Cottage under Solisko; that can be seen far away in the distance.

The Predne Solisko mountain peak has an impressive altitude of 2 093 meters / 6866 feet above the sea-level and it belongs to the High Tatras national park, TANAP.

Not far from this location there is also the world famous Strbske Pleso located; as it is a second largest glacial lake (tarn) on the Slovak side of High Tatras. The mountains of High Tatras are one of the most popular natural attractions in Europe and they are visited by hundreds of thousands visitors each year; during all seasons!

Are you looking forward to the winter season? Be it either way, here is above the clouds view of snow covered hills in Slovak High Tatras in an altitude of 2634 meters / 8641 feet above the sea-level.

The mountains of High Tatras are the most popular natural attraction in the heart of Europe – Slovakia. These mountains are actually the highest mountain range in the whole Carpathian Mountains, so tourists and hikers have a lot of natural attractions, as well as landscapes to explore. Because of that, High Tatras are visited by hundreds of thousands visitors each year, during all seasons. The High Tatra mountins belong to the Tatras national park, TANAP.

While it is still autumn now, keep in mind that if you happen to be in Slovakia during the wintertime you definitely shouldn't forget to visit this location. Don’t miss sightseeings from hills located in the High Tatras mountain chain, Slovakia!

A cloudy, but sunny view showing the central square in the town of Bardejov. The historical architecture of this well-preserved medieval town is completely intact and declared as a Town Conservation Reserve since 1950. It is also one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. On this photo you can see two main heritage landmarks of the town of Bardejov; the historical town hall and the Basilica of St. Egidius.

This monumental Gothic Basilica was first mentioned in the 13th century and it is a great example of a three nave sacral construction with multiple chapels. The Bardejov's town hall was built in 16th century and it consists of two architectural styles; the lower part represents the Gothic style, whereas the upper part represents the Renaissance style. These days it is opened to the public as the Saris Museum.

Did you know that Saris Museum is actually the oldest museum in Slovakia?!

The town of Bardejov is located in Saris region, north-eastern Slovakia.

If you will be nearby don’t forget to take a walk there; at least through the historical central square or even through sideby streets surrounding it. I really like the historical atmosphere of this location. It offers plenty of opportunities for photography; when walking around area of this heritage site.

Early autumn view of massive rocky hill called the Tupa Skala. This natural formation is part of the Rocks of Vysny Kubin, Vysnokubinske Skalky, located right above the Vysny Kubin village, Orava region, northern Slovakia. The area of the Rocks of Vysny Kubin is a very important archaeological locality, where many prehistoric artifacts and settlements of Celtic origin have been excavated.

This place is a great attraction for recreational travelers; especially people seeking for relax in nature during the part-day trip.

Did you know that the Tupa Skala is also becoming more and more popular among climbers?

The village of Vysny Kubin is birthplace of famous P. O. Hviezdoslav. Pavol Orszagh Hviezdoslav, born in February 2, 1849 in Vysny Kubin was the most famous Slovak poet, dramatist and for a short time member of the Czechoslovak parliament.

Today was a nice sunny day, so I took a walk outside in nearby forests and meadows, as well as I spent some time in our garden taking photos of flowers and insects. Here is a close-up view of a busy honey bee collecting pollen on a pink chrysanthemum blossom I captured in our garden a few hours ago.

Out of all other species that are known to pollinate, bees are the most abundant when it comes to the task. The majority of flowers that survives in our environment are able to do so because of bees.

Did you know that there are actually three different types of pollination categorized as self-pollination, pollination from a different flower and pollination from a different plant?

Cross pollination is the type of pollination that is consisted from a different plant. This type of pollination is quite important when it comes to diversity and the genetics of plants for the success of various species. The pollen that is produced inside of the stamens of flowers is transferred over to the female plants which are also known as pistils. The weight of the pollination grain will determine whether a plant is pollinated by the wind or an insect. Grass and wheat seeds are often transferred by the wind for the purpose of pollination, while heavier plants like fruit trees rely on insects for the pollination process to be successful.

However, smaller plants such as the flower in the photo, can still be pollinated by insects, and don’t only rely on the wind to make the transfer. In some places around the world there is a commercial pollination phenomenon that occurs more often than natural pollination because of a lack of vegetation. Some bees that were considered wild bees at one point are now commercial bees since they have been bred commercially for crop pollination. These bees collect the pollen and the nectar with their hind legs; the sacs on the back of them that they have created.

Bees are quite an important part of our ecosystem just like the fruit and the seeds that come from the pollination. The majority of flowers that survive in our environment are able to do so because of bees! ;)

I am spending this cloudy rainy day browsing, classifying and preparing photos I took few months ago in Photoshop for final use. Besides of Photoshop work, this also consists of writing tons of proper English titles, descriptions and keywords for every single photo as these are required by worldwide stock photography agencies. It is really a challenge sometimes to write a usable English text that tells of things seen on the picture in the descriptive way.

Actually, to write some sort of really descriptive English text for each photo is usually much more time consuming per photo than actual Photoshop work itself!

Anyway, here is one clear blue sky scenery from my photography set of "Liptov 2018" I took two months ago during my time at the shores at the Liptovska Mara lake, in the clear summertime afternoon of already mentioned year.

These dominant hills are called, from left to right, Pravnac, Lomne (Lomy), as well as rocky-formed reef of Cerenova. Recreational tourists also may know that the famous Prosiecka Valley can be seen partially visible on the rightmost side of this picture.

I have taken this image just a few kilometers from a small village of Bobrovnik located northwest of the Liptovsky Mikulas town. This area is seated in scenery of the Chocsky Mountains, a mountain range situated between the Great Fatra and the Western Tatras.

The Liptovska Mara is the second largest lake in Slovakia by area (27 km2 / 10 mi2) and it is a very popular holiday destination for travelers and fisherman from all around the world; especially for tourists from nearby Poland. This lake is located on the Vah river, between towns of Ruzomberok and Liptovsky Mikulas, northern Slovakia.

All the great possibilities of recreational enjoyment in the area surrounding Liptovska Mara are extended by vast amount of cottages, family pensions, restaurants and hotels. Nearby this lake there are also many thermal pools and resorts available, as well as one of the biggest aqua-parks in the Central Europe.

If you will be nearby be sure to stop there. This location has so much to offer, both for regular tourists looking for relax and recreation on the beach, as well as for photographers looking for some picturesque natural sceneries! ;)

A colorful countryside view from yesterday showing colorful meadows with road and cableway leading to down from Kubinska Hola mountain, with the Great Choc mountain and other Chocsky Hills seen in the distance. I have taken this photo in the Orava region, popular vacation destination located just a few kilometers north of the city of Dolny Kubin, northern Slovakia.

The Great Choc is the highest peak (alt. 1611 meters / 5285 feet a.s.l.) of the Chocsky hills and it is a popular destination for a whole-day trips. Each year, thousands of hikers, as well as recreational tourists climb the Great Choc mountain.

Did you know that even various polls have shown the Great Choc as the one of the most popular mountains in Slovakia?

The Kubinska Hola mountain is the second highest peak (alt. 1346 meters / 4416 a.s.l.) of Oravska Magura, located directly above the town of Dolny Kubin. The massive back stretches from the Prislop saddle to Mincol, with which it forms an attractive tourist location with Ski Park Kubinska hola and nearby Kubinska hola cottages. There is also important SHMU meteorological radar located on top of this mouantin.

From the top of Kubinska hola you can see Dolny Kubin town, Mala and Velka Fatra, High and Low Tatras, Velky Choc, Orava and Kysucke Beskydy.

The region of Orava is also a popular tourist destination because of a lot of mountains and resorts, as well as historical castles and travel attractions located throughout whole region. The Kubinska Hola is also very popular destination for skiers, but not only for them. It has its visitors throughout the whole year during all seasons.
