We’ll think of words we wish we could write. Filling up the pages of each other’s book of longing. Where courage rests while compassion is dawning. Not filling up the cracks so light can get in. If we’re allowed even a trace of regret, it must be in the ticking. Of time, of age, of a life that’ll flash by. Where a lifetime feels too late. Where a moment feels too tight. And even the breath of a whisper, we’ll be desperate to fill. The glorious storming of a fleeting life.

To feel my weight in your arms with that gravity of truth. I am as you’ve known me. I’m constantly spinning. And any semblance of control lies in constant forgiving. When hearts intertwine, they call it true love. But to tear them apart, there are no words. A promise that comes with certain pain, sealed by mortality. As we journey towards an end we never want to come. That’s how much it takes to love. To build a forest of sentiment doomed to wither and yet still carrying on. I hope you remember that no pain is ever too great compared to when we have to say goodbye. And even then, know that we remain eternal at the heart of each other’s minds.

I wonder how we’ll turn out when we grow old, as the elixir of youth parts itself from our bodies. I wonder what remnants continue to remain in our minds. How our hairs will flow in their shining silvers. How we’ll undertake meaning in our days with what energy we have left. How we’ll always see the good in everything as eyesight fades away. Knowing we have loved each other down to our very bones, keeping our bodies together with all we have left. I wonder what we’ll hang on to till the very end.
