Dear friends, S'pore's MRT network is more than just a way to get around - it's also a great subject for photography. One of my favourite techniques is panning, to create a sense of speed while keeping the train relatively sharp.

For this shot, timing was everything: tracking the train smoothly, maintaining a steady stance, and getting the "sweet spot" with shutter speeds to find the right balance between motion blur and detail. The result transforms an everyday commute into an image that captures the energy and rhythm of the city.

Dear friends, sharing probably 1 of the toughest shooting locations I’ve experienced in S'pore - the MCE traffic light trails overlooking S'pore’s Downtown Core at Marina Coastal Drive. I’ve seen many photographers shoot this spot over the years, but the ground conditions today were far tougher than expected. Overgrown shrubs, thick mimosa plants, soggy ground, & a tiny shooting space barely enough for one person at the best angle. Thankfully, the mozzies were quiet and the ants were harmless. Please PM me if you the location details.

Dear friends, like to share a "forgotton icon" of Marina Bay - the mooring dock near the floating LV pavilion, which is itself architecturally iconic because it is the world’s only floating Louis Vuitton Island Maison. When I first saw it many years ago, I somehow like it, but can't really understand why many shutterbugs make a beeline for it. After such a long procrastination, I finally capture it and convey it my way. Perhaps it gives the Downtown Core background a different vibe? I am still not really sure really, but the shooting process was certainly therapeutic.

Dear friends, like to share couple of shots that I took at Singapore Downtown Core that I took yesterday. Part of a series of pictures I am taking to refresh my image bank sales at Getty/iStock.

Our country skyline is gaining significant traction and strengthening its position on the international stage in 2026, driven by our reputation as a safe, stable, and trusted global hub amid geopolitical instability.

Always a great feeling capturing our iconic skyline.

Dear friends, is anyone shooting at Singapore Airshow 2026 this weekend? The aerial display segment includes helicopters, turboprop planes and jetplanes. Shutterspeed usage have to be careful if you do not want perfectly frozen rotor blades.

Helicopter Rotor Blur -
Use slow shutter speed: ~1/100 to 1/250 depending on amount of rotor blur you like. I I used up 1/640 for the Sarang Display team for higher keeper rate)
Pan smoothly: Follow the helicopter to keep the fuselage sharp.
Stabilisation ON: IBIS/IS helps at slow shutter speeds.
Burst mode: Increases chance of one sharp frame.

Jet Motion Blur (Contrast)
Faster shutter: ~1/1000 to 1/2500s for sharp jets.
Add motion creatively: Use ~1/125–1/250s for turboprop blur or background streaking during passes.
Afterburner & vortices: Freeze with fast shutter for dramatic detail. Faster shutter speed may reduce effect of heat shimmer to a certain extent.

Have a great outing at Weekend@Airshow. 😃👍

Dear friends, seems lately the 'season' for great sunset has arrived. Do check weather forecast and if its piping hot at late noon, the chances of a gorgeous dusk might be high. Do go before the onset of the monsoon.

Dear friends, I left a small footprint at the SG60 National Photography Art Exhibition. This exhibition commemorates
Singapore 60 years of nation building. Its held at The Art Space SG,. 66, Kallang Pudding Rd, #01-01 , Hor Kew Biz Centre. Opening hours (11am-6pm, 9-12 Oct 2025)
- My entry was a panning shot of a NDP 2024 Red Lions jumper descending at The Padang with the VIP spectators in the background. The Red Lions made their first appearance in 1989 as a formalised team, although members of the Singapore Commandos Formation had put on sporadic displays since the 1970s.
