Three freshwater crater maar lakes in San Pablo, Laguna, Philippines that support different intensities of aquaculture, an important livelihood but also a driver of poor water quality throughout tropical Asia. Despite the differences in aquaculture intensity following its establishment in the late 1970s, all three lakes are demonstrating a common trajectory and timing of ecological changes. The outcome has been the same for all three sites: increases in turbidity, eutrophication and mass fish kills. A story of eutrophication superimposed upon the floristic effects of warming.
