Hereโ€™s a little something we put together on our two weeks diving Egypt in April/May with the fabulous team at Master Liveaboards

As first time visitors here, we can now see why the Red Sea has earned its place in the hearts of scuba divers across the globe.

Choose a reputable operator, and Egypt remains one of the most rewarding underwater experiences!! Check it out!

As first-time visitors to the Egyptian Red Sea, weโ€™d have to say there is something undeniably magical here. Maybe itโ€™s the clarity of the water, the Technicolor coral blooms, or the friendly spinner dolphins. Whatever the reason, we now understand why the Red Sea has earned its rightful place i...

Hereโ€™s a little something we put together for DivePhotoGuide - Underwater Photography & Video from our recent stay with the fabulous team Wakatobi Dive Resort. If you havenโ€™t yet visited this beautiful part of Indonesia be sure to put Wakatobi on your list!

Located at the epicenter of coral reef biodiversity and within the UNESCO World Heritage listed Wakatobi Marine Park lies Wakatobi Dive Resort. Truthfully, in all our yearโ€™s diving and undertaking assignments, there are few places that compareโ€”Wakatobi is a garden of eden, above and below the su...

In our latest article from the field; we head to the Azores with the team at Shark Education in search of blue sharks to not only photograph them, but contribute to the first ever registry of blue sharks in the Azores. We also learn to interact with these sharks safely as divers and photographers. Who would have thought that as humans are responsible for 70 percent of how the interaction plays out underwater! These sharks are super curious and there are some very valuable techniques you need to learn to interact with this species. Check it out online DivePhotoGuide - Underwater Photography & Video

Blue sharks are aptly named: The upper half of the body is a stunning azure color, perfectly camouflaged in the open ocean environments that this shark favors ย

Feeling weird to not be in neoprene, but super excited to be here in the family homeland to accept my award of โ€˜Remarkable Artworkโ€™ at Italyโ€™s Siena Awards in the โ€˜Underwater Lifeโ€™ category. My awarded image was taken last November in Mexicoโ€™s Baja California Sur and would not have been possible without our awesome friend Richard Barnden, who arranged an incredible trip for us all!

Itโ€™s also very special to receive this award amongst so many talented photographers and great friends!

A huge congratulations to our wonderful friend Renee Grinnell Capozzola whose work was awarded twice this year, with one of her awarded images being taken while we were together this time last year in French Polynesia. And to our friends the fabulous Pietro Formis, Andrea Michelutti aka Traveller Mike and fellow awesome Aussie Scott Portelli

No one does it better than the Italians! and so much hard work goes in to organizing an event like this. Thank you to the Siena Awards team who organized such a stunning awards ceremony and gala in Sienaโ€™s incredible Teatro dei Rinnovati. This is truly an international competition and celebration of photography from talented people from all over the world!

All of the fantastic images awarded this year will be on show at the โ€˜People Sharing All the Worldโ€™ exhibition in Siena from 29 September to 24 November at the Former Distillery "Lo Stellino". Make sure to take a look if you are in Italy. Or pick up a copy of this yearโ€™s competition book โ€˜Beyond the Lensโ€™ which features all the amazing images.

As the sun plunges below the horizon and the sky reveals its pretty hues of deep orange, it dawns on us: We have done this before. People say: โ€œNever go back. It is never quite as good as your first timeโ€; and for some places, there is truth in that. But as a million flying foxes create a hypnot...

Thank you everyone for all the birthday wishes. This year I spent it with our incredible Australian Giant Cuttlefish.

Each winter the Australian giant cuttlefish; the largest of their kind in the worldโ€”abandon their normally isolated and solitary lives to gather in their tens of thousands in the shallow waters of Australiaโ€™s upper Spencer Gulf. Theyโ€™re here for one reason, and one reason only: to display their elaborate costumes and dance prowess at what is the only mass spawning aggregation of cuttlefish on our planet.

In all my years of diving, Iโ€™ve never seen such vast numbers of a single species anywhere in the world, but for the cuttlefish, it hasnโ€™t always been that way. Commercial fishing saw giant cuttlefish populations here plummet from around 180,000 in 1999 to critically low levels of just over 13,000 in 2013. Thankfully, in recent years, numbers have rebounded as commercial fishing bans on the breeding ground and migration paths were put in place. Its a fine balance however; with protections often changing with changes in government. This is one of the worldโ€™s greatest natural events.
