Believe it or not, my job has very little to do with photography skills, though I would like to think I have mastered them pretty well by now.

More than anything, it is about connecting with the people, and sometimes the fur animals, in front of my lens. It is about seeing the unique beauty and strength in each of them, and giving them enough space to simply be in their elements. It is about giving them my wholehearted presence, not just the presence of a camera.

I feel a profound sense of gratitude to be able to spend this kind of time with my muses. They have to trust me deeply to let me into their intimate settings and allow me to be the teller of their stories.

To Amanda and Jaime, please credit yourselves for your candid personalities. It is because of who you are that we all felt that beautiful space of comfort we carved out together on that fine afternoon.

It is a session that I will fondly remember. Thank you, A&J.

Looking back at old memories with some of my favorite couples is one of my favorite things to do. It is more than just a walk down memory lane. It is a way to reflect on how much we have all changed, and yet how we have remained exactly the same when it comes to our core values.

Revisiting these frames reminds me of the pure joy found in the process of creation. It brings me back to the true purpose of my work: capturing honest human connection before the moment slips away.

We change, our lives grow, but the love in these time capsules stays still.

Do you have a fond memory that you love to revisit?

I want to share this story with you. And there is a message behind.

It is easy to look at an “after” photo. But the real story lives in the quiet, difficult moments of the “before.”

When I spent time photographing Kamy and Benson, they shared something with me that stuck. They remembered a time when simply walking up a flight of stairs left them feeling completely exhausted and breathless. They started their fitness journey not out of a desire for vanity, but because their bodies were giving out. Benson was warded for high blood pressure, and Kamy’s immune system was completely wrecked. They were in and out of hospitals until they finally said: “Enough is enough.”

The first steps were brutal. Waking up at 5am, struggling to even hold a barbell properly, and completely rewriting their relationship with food. To make things harder, the healing process wasn’t linear. Kamy had to navigate a slipped disk and surgery, forcing her to reset back to ground zero in the middle of everything.

But they kept showing up.

After two and a half years of consistency, something shifted. It stopped being about the numbers on a scale. It became a story about rebuilding health, improving mobility, and unexpectedly falling in love with powerlifting.

Seeing them move confidently during the photo session, it was clear that their biggest wins are the ones you can’t see in a simple portrait. It is the abundant energy they have now, the community that made them feel safe, and the quiet proof they gave to themselves that change is possible.

They didn’t just change their bodies. They reclaimed their lives.

I hope there is some takeaway from this story 🙌 .

(Special thanks to .singapore for providing them the safe space and community to learn and transform)

One day, I might not be the center of your world anymore. You will have your own friends to hang out with, your own adventures to chase, and you will no longer have those tiny hands that constantly reach up to hold on to mine.

As parents, we spend so much time looking forward, waiting for the next milestone, the next phase, or the next bit of independence. But the truth is these days of absolute closeness are fleeting. There will come a time when the house is quiet and the constant demands for our attention turn into occasional phone calls.

That is why these family sessions mean so much to me. They aren’t about creating a perfect portrait for the living room wall; they are about freezing the exact weight of a child leaning against your shoulder. They are about documenting the fierce, unscripted way they cling to your fingers, completely unaware that time is moving.

I want to capture the safety they find in your embrace right now, before their world grows bigger. So that years from now, when they are out living their own stories, you can open this time capsule and remember exactly what it felt like to be their entire universe.

When i photograph another photographer, there is a silent understanding that happens behind the lens. We both know that the camera is just a tool, and the real work is about how we choose to see the world.

In my first post about Jeehe and Dylan, we talked about how gives off the sense of a big tree sharing shade under its crown. That calm presence teaches you something about the creative pause. It is the willingness to stand still in the middle of a busy Singapore street and just let life move around you.

As photographers, it is easy to get caught up in the production of a scene. But with them, the session felt like a reminder of why we picked up a camera in the first place. It wasn’t to chase perfection, but to document the honest, unscripted textures of a relationship that has grown over fifteen years.

Jeehe’s childlike joy and Dylan’s quiet observation belong together. They remind us that the best compositions aren’t the ones you manufacture; they are the ones you are patient enough to wait for.

Sometimes, the best way to move forward in your journey is to simply stand still with people who understand the rhythm of your heart.

We often think of our lives as a series of events, but the truth is we are the stories we tell ourselves. In the words of Jim Loehr, the most important story we ever tell is the one we live.

“人生,要活对故事.”

Life is about living the right story. It is a narrative that isn’t defined by performance or perfection, but by purpose and presence. I could feel this correlation every time I spent time with Janice and JY, from their prewedding and wedding day to their family sessions. Their story isn’t a rigid production. It is a story of movement and unscripted joy. It is the story of a mother’s joy, a father’s quiet strength, and children who feel safe to simply be themselves.

When we stop trying to live the “perfect” story that the world expects of us, we finally have the space to live the “right” story. This is the one that is honest, raw, and full of the people we care about.

Choosing to live the right story means leaning into the unplanned gaps. It is found in the way the parents simply watch their children explore with a quiet strength. These are the moments that slowly but surely build a legacy.

I always hope my silent presence as a family friend can help to put those stories into time capsules. So that years from now, my muses can look back and know that they didn’t just have the moments. They lived well. They lived the right story.

I still miss you, mum. Hope you are kinder to yourself, on the other side of the world.

When I look at my wife, I see the same quiet strength and the same fearless, free spirit that makes a house feel like home. She is the anchor for our children, just as you were for me. Seeing her in these unscripted moments reminds me that motherhood is the ultimate time capsule of love.

Through my lens, I get to witness this same heartbeat in so many different families. Whether it is a quiet whisper or a chaotic afternoon of play, it is all part of the same beautiful diary. I see your influence in every honest moment I capture. I realize now that my work is just a way of continuing the conversation we started years ago.

I was born with flaws. You embraced me fully, just as you knew you were flawed too. You showed your vulnerable side to me, more than anyone else. Maybe deep down, you knew we were similar in how we cope and accept our struggles. I want to spread that gentleness of yours with every mother I encounter in my journey.

I have included a photo of you at the end of this series. It is my favorite way to remember where my own story began.

Wishing all mothers a blessed mother’s day.

There is something grounding and yet liberating about the way kids use their hands to understand the world.

When they are small, their fingers reach all the way to the sky, convinced they can just about touch the clouds. And yet, those same hands are always interested in running along their parent’s nose and face, tracing the lines of a face they know better than any other.

During family sessions, I love capturing these little heartbeats. It isn’t about posing; it is about the quiet, tactile reality of a family’s bonding. It is the imagination that stretches towards the infinite and the comfort that is found in the everyday.

When we stop focusing on the destination and just allow the moments to unfold, we find the real beauty. These are the time capsules we want to preserve.

One night, my 5yo girl took off her top and ran around playing. When she sat on my lap, I told her to put her clothes back on so she wouldn’t catch a cold. She just looked at me and said: “Relax dad. You don’t need to worry about me getting sick. It will be ok.”

I was so noted by how carefree she is.

That is exactly how I felt during this casual street walk with PeiWen and YuanFeng. They were like ‘kids’ to me: free and fearless. They came to the session like a blank canvas, without specific expectations or fancy clothes. We had a wonderful morning hangout where the streets became a collection of playgrounds for the three of us. It was ‘refreshing’ to see YF just messed up PW’s hair in the session. They didn’t treat it as a photoshoot, they simply were having fun 🤩

I am so grateful for how much they trusted me. They simply wanted to have a good time away from their work and everyday lives. For me, I truly enjoyed walking the streets without an agenda, letting my instincts and the beautiful light guide my compositions.

It made me recall the start of my photography career. There were many moments of self doubt back then. I wasn’t sure if people would like these kinds of pictures, or if my colors looked “inferior” to others. I didn’t even know what a “preset” was at the time.

Because I thought colors were a weakness, I told myself to just focus on everything else. That thought pushed me to work harder on composition, creativity, and communication with my couples.

I suppose there is no right or wrong. Nowadays, when I see colors, I just like them. I accept them just as I acknowledge my own personal flaws. With an open heart, it is a journey worth traveling. Flaws make me real, and my humanity makes the work authentic.

I don’t need to reach a “perfect” destination. As Buddha said: “It is better to travel well than to arrive.”

The beauty of a wedding with a loose programme is that it stops being a production and starts being a life.

We often see weddings where there is a constant pressure to perform for the lens, or the guests. But when the schedule is open and the air is relaxed, people stop performing. They start participating in the day. They let go of being “perfect” and simply allow themselves to be.

We find that the most honest stories happen in these unplanned gaps. It is in the way children find their own quiet corners to play, or the way guests truly connect without an eye on the clock. It is about capturing a raw and authentic energy that can’t be scripted.

Our role is to be there to witness it all. Not to tell people how or where to pose, but to hold space for them to be exactly who they are. Because when you stop performing, you start living. And those are the moments we want to keep in your time capsule.
