Into the Dark: My First Night in Wildlife Photography

During our visit to Borneo Forest, while exploring the nature at its fullest, we encountered the change in light as dusk faded to night and sounds of nocturnal world waking up. We had to adjust our senses, specially vision and hearing to be with nature. It's also my first time trying photography in pitch darkness, a challenging yet exhilarating experience that requires a blend of patience, technical skill, and an appreciation for nocturnal behaviour.

Though the pictures didn't turn out as I expected, but capturing the nocturnal life in a flash of a light can test perseverance of anyone.

Getting back into bird photography after a long break felt like meeting an old friend—familiar, comforting, and full of quiet excitement. As we stepped into the jungles of Borneo, the world seemed to slow down. Every rustle in the bushes and call from the treetops pulled me in. We realized how much we missed this—watching the light shift across feathers, trying to take the photos and that little thrill when a rare bird appears unexpectedly. It wasn’t just about spotting birds—it was about reconnecting with nature, and with a part of myself I hadn’t visited in a while.

During our trip in the savannah's we encountered these 2 beauties - Brothers of Serengeti. Cheetah's are apex predators and the fastest land animal; these 2 are ruling that part of Serengeti for 2 years.
Seeing them patrolling their territory is a blessed opportunity.
