🐦 The Vogelkop Lophorina might look like a plain black bird at first, but its true beauty lies in its incredible courtship display. 🕺✨ Witnessing this transformation is a sight to behold!

A juvenile magnificent bird tried to bully and chase away the Vogelkop Lophorina as it arrived at the feeding station. Irritated, the Lophorina transformed into a dazzling display, scaring off the smaller bird with a loud scream.

Black-and-red Broadbill - a distinctively colored resident territorial bird, with glossy black upperparts and a crimson underparts.
A pair was spotted building their nest along the stream during the nesting season in Mar-2017 at Hutan Lipur Sungai Bantang, Bekok, Malaysia - a lowland forest with a flowing water body.

After an unusual quiet morning in Bekok, we decided to check out Panti on the way back to Singapore. Fortunately this lovely male Banded Kingfisher saved the day for everyone’s delight. What a catch to end the day with!

Buffy Fish Owl (Ketupa ketupu, ssp: K. k. ketupu)

Birding at Singapore Botanic Gardens is not complete without saying hello to the Buffy Fish Owl family. Bird was perched eye level from rain forest broadwalk. Alerted by the sudden gush of wind, the owl turned its head 180 degree towards my side with wide open eyes to pose for this shot. Feb-2017.
