Finally get to photograph the oriental darter, an uncommon visitor in Singapore. This wasn't a lifer but I finally get to see the way it catches its fish. However, the light was low as it was really early in the morning, or it was raining heavily in the afternoon. Both equally challenging conditions, but fun when you get the photos.

It's been a pleasure to cover the tagging and data collection of the native species peregrine falcon (falco peregrinus ernesti) eyases at the OCBC building, showcasing how we can help our local wildlife co-exist in our highly urbanised city. This is a special cooperative effort between NParks and OCBC to help understand how we can help the falcons breed in Singapore since the end 2024.

Since the end of 2024, it was observed that the pair of peregrine falcons have started to nest in OCBC building. NParks researchers managed to prepare a nesting tray that the falcons found to be conducive for laying their eggs. The first successful batch of eggs to hatch was in 2025. That batch of 2 falcons grew to fledge and have since left.

This is the current batch of 4 eggs that managed to hatch successfully in the month of February 2026. NParks have even installed a live camera to let us watch the eyases daily life, 24/7. Here's the link for the live feed (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iT4ioZwFKEo).

A trip to one of the 63 offshore islands of Singapore, Pulau Ubin to see some wildlife. Quite a good outing considering that I managed to see my lifer, the oriental darter and in numbers normally not seen on Singapore main island.
