Whenever we’re in the forests, looking for a composition for a wild forest photo, a mantra being repeated to us by the legend Marc was “dark to bright, dark to bright! Look for the darkest part to be in and then look out towards the brightest part!”.
This photo was taken following his mantra in a fern forest in New Zealand.
Let’s look forward to the brighter future in the year 2024!

The Throne.
That’s the name of this peak. In local language, it’s called Cerro Trono which is one of the many snow-capped peaks in the Cordillera Sarmiento, a mountain range in the Chilean fjords to the west of Puerto Natales.
These mountains and fjords in this area are so secluded and mostly uninhabited. Only a handful of hardcore mountaineers, local fishermen and very few photographers have been there and seen them. I was one of the lucky few to be there by courtesy of and the crew of the exploration boat Explorador II of

Sekumpul waterfall, Bali’s most exotic and impressive waterfall.
It’s located in the northern highlands of Bali, around 2.5 hr drive from main tourist hubs of southern beaches.
You also have to hike down a steep and arduous trail but it’s absolutely worth it.

Skogafoss in winter!
Water was freezing when I stepped into the stream. You can also feel the force of the flow through your feet while trying to balance myself over the slippery rocks.
But I liked this composition because the photo can place the viewer in the middle of the water as if he was there standing and facing the giant waterfall.
Can you feel the freezing cold water flowing in between your feet?

It’s the part of the world’s northernmost UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ilulissat Icefjord.
Do you know that the iceberg that sank the Titanic in 1912 was probably created in Ilulissat?
