[ Through My Eyes ]

Take a look at the comments section to see the before and after!
One flash was attached to a beauty dish for this shoot to achieve dark shadows to play around with negative space. I wanted to have a much fairer skin tone for this photo set to make the colours pop even more, like colourful paint on a white canvas. I then pumped up the exposure and contrast and darkened the shadows.

[ Self portrait - Through my eyes ]

In a world where times have been extremely tough, the darkness seems inescapable, slithering into every inch of our soul and plaguing our minds with painful thoughts. However, I won't let this darkness take away the beauty that I can see with this pair of eyes.

This gift we call creativity, is something that many of us use as a coping mechanism, and sometimes we create our greatest works during our darkest moments.

This is a self portrait that I've thought about for a while and really glad that I now have the tools to execute it properly, such as a wireless remote and non-reflective black backdrop! πŸ’– I did not really plan for the makeup and just went along with the flow as I applied it to my face πŸ˜‚

[ Bougainvillea ]

I included my work in the progress photos of the headpiece and gown in this set! I recycled the dress that I made for another shoot as this was a rather last minute plan and the bougainvilleas were in full bloom.

"Bougainvillea" which is a flower that can be commonly found in Singapore. It usually blooms in March which is our hottest period! Singapore is pretty much just summer all year round as we're close to the equator πŸ˜‚

Thank you Kion for agreeing to be my mystical flower deity on such a short notice and Mato for housing me over the weekend and also melting in this humidity with us πŸ’–!

" I was on a ship, cruising through a sea of clouds as I dreamed. "

I was inspired by Sandman, a mythical entity that puts people to sleep and created beautiful dreams for them. Something that I have always loved doing, because its a short escape to my safe magical haven and far away from reality. ☁️✨

I bought cotton wool to replicate clouds and draped white chiffon across my room to create this set up. Mato settled her own styling and I am always so impressed by her limitless creativity! πŸ’–

We ordered a moon lamp which unfortunately failed to arrive during the day of the shoot. Thankfully, Mato made a ship out of paper as a prop for this shoot. An idea suddenly hit me and I realised I could use my LED light to create some cool effect! I placed my LED light under Mato's skirt and added cotton wools around to make it seem like the ship is glowing. ✨✨

We did not use a flash for this photoshoot and I wanted to test out the Sigma FP's capabilities using just natural light. This shot was taken around 7pm when the Sun is setting so it was rather dark, but I could focus the Sigma FP easily.

[ Scorched ]

"Scorched" is something that I feel deeply for, it was created during a very difficult time in my life. I was facing some troubles and really needed an outlet to vent, so I channeled those emotions to photography. I was feeling extremely suffocated and vulnerable then, everything in my mind was getting burnt to the ground and turning into ashes. Which is why I decided to title this photoset as "scorched". I'm not good with words, so I hope my photographs are able to translate my raw feelings.

An influence for this photo set are renaissance paintings. I love the drama, the way the artists play with lights and shadows to create their mood, the expression of the subjects. Every time I visited museums when I travelled to Europe, I would leave my travel group to explore the museum on my own to admire and immerse myself in these beautiful artworks.

I've got a new website and my own domain name now! πŸ’–

Here's a zoomed out screenshot of it because I want more photos to be seen.

Its nice to see when photos from different sets are put side by side because I do sometimes forget the works that I've created in the past πŸ˜‚ I'm extra happy with the conceptual photography section because most of my works are in that category πŸ’–

Here's a photo from a shoot I did with Syrena- Singapore's First Mermaid over an year ago! I took 3 separate shots of Syrena with my Nikon 85mm f1.8 and stitched the photos together to form this full body photo! I'm starting to fall in love with this method because the details stay so clear and visible compared to when we're using a wide angle lens.

One thing I would definitely want to improve on for future shoots is the visibility of the water. Most people couldn't tell that we did this shoot in a baby pool filled with water😭. It's time I did further research! πŸ’ͺ

[ Witch of the depths ]

We did this shoot in September 2019 but I was a little stuck about how to proceed with the edits, so I only came back to it after I was done with other backlogs. I didn't want to rush the edits and post something that I wasn't happy with and I'm glad I didn't because I'm happy with the outcome now!

I stitched 3 images together for the model and approximately 15 for the red hydrangea background. I did a mini set up for the red hydrangeas and took some stock photos before the model arrived which I would later then composite into the image using photoshop.

Thank you Milynn for agreeing to my last minute request and travelling down to my place for the shoot! As well as Oda who came down to assist for 2 consecutive days of shooting!

[ Self Portrait ]

This marks my 3rd self portrait done during circuit breaker! Due to CB and foreign workers getting quarantined, the fallen branches in the field below my house hasn't been cleared. I took the chance to collect them again and painted them gold in the afternoon, then proceeded to create this self portrait in the evening πŸ’–

I wanted to create something painting like, like the mona lisa but in my own style! Expressionless but with a strong gaze, I hope you all feel the same! πŸ’–

This was also shot in my mini piano room! It was challenging but fun nonetheless!
