Lawrence Photography is a social enterprise providing photography services such as photo shoot, studio rental, workshops and photo printing services. Our traineeship programme aimed to equip special needs (high function) children or their siblings with photography skills so that they can eventually achieve financial independence as a photographer. We founded "Portrait from the Heart" which provide family portrait shoot for special needs and hospice children.

There are some places we never expect to miss—until they’re gone.

Today, the old Ang Mo Kio Library closes its doors after serving the community for more than 40 years. While the library will reopen at AMK Hub later this year with newer facilities and greater convenience, I can’t help but feel a little nostalgic.

Growing up, libraries were more than just places to borrow books. They were quiet sanctuaries where we escaped into different worlds, studied for exams, discovered new ideas, and simply enjoyed moments of peace. I still remember the excitement of holding my first library card and leaving with a stack of books that fuelled my imagination.

As a photographer, I’ve come to realise that every place has a story. It’s not always about the architecture—it’s about the lives lived within those walls. A library isn’t remembered because of its shelves or tables, but because of the countless memories created there: children turning pages for the first time, students preparing for their futures, parents reading with their little ones, and seniors finding comfort in a familiar corner.

Progress is inevitable, and I’m grateful that the library will continue serving the community in its new home. But some places deserve a quiet moment of appreciation before we turn the page.

Because sometimes, we don’t miss the building.

We miss the person we were when we spent those afternoons there.

Thank you, Ang Mo Kio Library, for being part of so many lives and for reminding us that the most ordinary places often leave the most extraordinary memories.

Tucked away in the heart of Singapore’s bustling CBD, Marina One Green Heart is a stunning urban sanctuary where lush tropical greenery meets striking contemporary architecture. Surrounded by towering skyscrapers, this award-winning green oasis offers beautiful natural light, layered perspectives, and endless opportunities for creative photography.

I spent the morning exploring this hidden gem with my camera, capturing the interplay of light, lines, and nature. It’s a reminder that even in the middle of the city, there are peaceful spaces waiting to be discovered through the lens.

Have you visited Marina One Green Heart? What’s your favourite hidden photography spot in Singapore?

Photographing children with special needs isn’t about getting them to pose — it’s about meeting them where they are.

It takes patience to wait.
It takes empathy to understand.
And it takes experience to recognise that the “perfect moment” rarely looks perfect at all.

Sometimes it comes as a burst of laughter… loud, free, and completely unfiltered. And when it does, you don’t direct it — you honour it.

This is why these portraits mean so much. They’re not manufactured smiles. They’re real, fleeting moments of joy captured exactly as they are. 🩷

To every parent walking this path: your child doesn’t need to change for the camera. The right photographer will adapt to them.

Every line tells a story. ✨

Today we had the privilege of photographing a beautiful auntie whose gentle smile and graceful wrinkles speak of decades filled with love, resilience, and memories. Senior portraits aren’t about looking younger — they’re about honoring a life well-lived.

If you’ve been meaning to capture a timeless portrait for your parents or grandparents, now is the perfect time. These photographs become treasured heirlooms for generations to come. ❤️

Because every story deserves to be remembered.

Some photos are beautiful because of light, composition, or timing.
And then there are photos like this — beautiful because of love you can feel.

In this quiet moment, a caregiver and a young boy share something deeper than words. There’s trust in the way he leans in. There’s patience in the way she stays close. Their hands are gently clasped, not just in contact, but in connection — a silent reassurance that you’re safe, I’m here.

Working with children on the autism spectrum often reveals a different rhythm of communication. It’s in small gestures, shared stillness, and unspoken understanding. This image captures that perfectly — a bond built on consistency, empathy, and genuine care.

As a photographer, moments like this stop me in my tracks. No posing. No direction. Just a real relationship unfolding naturally in front of the lens.

These are the stories that deserve to be seen. 💛
