Before touching down to Yogyakarta, all I saw was a huge land of green. Unlike the usual sight with all the concrete buildings that I get used to it.

A city person like me came to a stranger place. It was so much different. Hardly see any skyscrapers here. All that greet you are those plants, trees, houses and sky.

How long have I been trap in those concrete buildings that I forget about the beauty of nature?

RAID explores the intricacies of site as narrator within the historic Tiong Bahru Air Raid Shelter. Rarely opened to the public, the 1,500 sqm site has a long history dating as far back as 1939 during air raids by the Japanese in the 1940s, and has not been changed significantly since.

Extending the literature of site responsivity through the lens of eight up-and coming-artists working across fields of sculpture, installation, and conceptual art, RAID presents each artist's interpretation of the loaded site — intuitively, architecturally or historically.

RAID features works by artist-organisers Daniel Chong, Zulkhairi Zulkiflee, and participating artists, Ivan Ng, Tay Ining, Vanessa Lim, Jacqueline Sim, Pooja Kanade, and Nhawfal Juma’at.

Once a clan jetty, the spirit of the village is back!

Macallum Playhouse is an interactive play structure and art installation that combines the elemental aesthetics of jetties and fishing villages with interactive play parts.

Just like the familiar fishing villages, the playhouse is built with mangrove wood. It bounces, moves and creaks just like on the jetties. Look down, you might even see fishes!

Let your inner child lose here, take a spin on the pancake swings, play a tune or two on the tube xylophones and mess around with the pulleys and baskets! At the playhouse, it is up to your imagination on what it can be.
Hang around and enjoy the cool breeze.

The exhibition fully embodies the ideals, beliefs and actions of the artists in their commitment towards protecting sharks. Based on the theme and context, they have provided their subjective interpretations regardless of concept, language or form, and created works that display a great visual tension and visual philosophy.

These works have both made use of the richness of various media as well as presented the diversity of the theme. It reflects the artists' own imagination and creativity, and also showcases their critical thinking and social responsibility. Their works are not only an allegory and criticism of human greed and cruelty, but they also advocate for and establish harmony between man and nature.

The success of the event will help the public to better understand the hitherto "mysterious" relationship between sharks and humans in order to overcome mankind's unknown fear of these magnificent creatures, and bring the audience face-to-face with the real and often-ignored reality of the impact every individual can make, so that they can reflect on their actions and make their own choices to do their part for the environment.

i Light Marina Bay is Asia’s only sustainable light art festival that showcases innovative content, the intelligent use of lighting as well as an international line-up of creative talents. The Marina Bay waterfront will be transformed into a magical space of light and colour for the public to celebrate both public spaces and creativity.

To promote an environmentally-responsible behaviour for a sustainable future, the participating artists have incorporated the use of recyclable materials and adopted energy-efficient lighting technologies in the creation of their stunning light art installations. Every aspect of the festival will adopt a more effective and efficient management of resources to meet this commitment to the environment.
