Deeply grateful for the chance to explore the vibrant waters of the Discovery Passage. This journey was also a cultural one; we spent time visiting local museums and First Nations galleries, gaining a deeper appreciation for this region.

Weโ€™re honored to be diving on and acknowledging the unceded traditional territory of the Ligwiล‚daโ€™xw people; the We Wai Kai, Wei Wai K*m, and Kwiakah First Nations.

Last week I finally fulfilled a long-time bucket list goal: diving the emerald waters of Campbell River, Canada. The cold water reefs are just as vibrant as the tropical ones Iโ€™m used to back home, just with a bit more gear involved! They told me this was the 'Komodo of cold water diving,' so I made sure I was comfortable in my drysuit before heading thereโ€”and it paid off. A huge shoutout to and our guide, Andrea Having a local guide is a game-changer, especially when she has a literal connection with the resident wolf eel! Canada is definitely a world-class diving destination worth drysuiting for.

P.S. Did you know? Male wolf eels tend to have larger, more "grotesque" heads, whereas the females possess smaller jaws and are often darker in color.

East Pacific Red Octopus a.k.a EPRO. Commonly found throughout the Pacific Northwest. Don't confuse them with the GPO! Though the juvenile might look similar, EPRO has three distinct lower lashes (papillae) to identify them. They are also much smaller than the GPO, perfect for a macro subject!

Credit to for the EPRO moniker.

Pictures from shallow 90 minute dive at Redondo. Reminded me of diving in Tulamben, except much colder ๐Ÿฅถ It was the perfect place to test out my camera for cold water diving. I still have not figured out how to use the snoot with my current setup. Need more practice!

Thank you for showing us Redondo!

Met up with some of last year's Ocean Canvas 2024 participants today and all we could talk about was diving! Ok, jk we talked about real life too. But we all agreed on one thing, was awesome! Take us back please!

I also remembered that I still have a lot of amazing pictures from Tulamben that I have not shared with you guys! So here's one of my favourites seaslug, Shaun the sheep!!

Last year I was finally able to photograph those pink cheeks! Aren't they cute?!

Literally no one: Is that a painted frogfish?
Me: No, that's a photograph.

This little one is a juvenile painted frogfish, and I used light to โ€˜paintโ€™ itโ€”quite literally creating a painted frogfish. Get it? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Awkward joke aside, one of my favorite underwater critters is the frogfish! At Ocean Canvas underwater photography workshop, we paint with light and cameras to craft artistic portraits of the ocean's inhabitants. ๐ŸŒŠโœจ

2024: A Year of Growth and Rediscovery

After a two-year break, returning to work in 2024 felt like an uphill challenge. I was worried about finding a job, but as luck would have it, the opportunity came, and I embraced it wholeheartedly. Balancing a full-time job with life outside of work has been an ongoing journey, but this year has shown me that life can expand in ways I never imagined.

One of the most thrilling highlights of 2024 was being part of MURK! & .sg Collaborating on a short film about diving in Singapore was an unforgettable experience. Through this project, we aimed to share a message thatโ€™s close to our hearts: โ€œYES! You can dive in Singapore, and itโ€™s actually really fun!โ€ Today, we even went diving at Hantu, where the visibility was surprisingly goodโ€”a perfect reminder of why we love local waters.

Another incredible milestone was working on Ace 2099 with Michael Aw and connecting with some of the brilliant minds behind Ocean Geographic magazine. I even got to meet Her Royal Deepness, Dr. Sylvia Earle, in personโ€”a dream come true for any ocean enthusiast.

And of course, there was Ocean Canvas 2024, which grew even bigger and better this year. More attendees, more breathtaking underwater shots, and more shared passion for the marine world. This annual event continues to inspire and push creative boundaries, setting the tone for the year ahead.

The cherry on top? I won my first underwater photography competition!

Looking back, Iโ€™m amazed at how much this year has offeredโ€”especially with the unwavering support of my trusted everything buddy. Hereโ€™s to 2025 and all the adventures waiting to unfold!
