Things I've learned as a wedding photographer.
1. Your wedding doesn't need to be perfect.
2. Unposed shots are the ones you remember for life.
3. Be there for your family and friends.
4. Less posing. More being.
5. It's ok to be awkward.
6. Forget traditions that don't feel like you.
7. Be present and live the moment.
8. Boring is not unmeaningful.
9. A wedding is not a stage.

Weddings still hit hard.
Call me an older timer, or even a veteran of some sorts, but even after all these years of photographing weddings there is still something about them that stirs my heart. Especially when couples like Jovin and Denson come along, when their vision of a wedding aligns perfectly with mine - a no-frills, people-come-first gathering, where the celebration of themselves only come second to the people who have helped moulded them into who they are now.
P.s. I might not be posting much nowadays, but I'm still very much in the hunt for weddings with good vibes! *Hint hint* 😉.

The stories that matter.
I have been photographing weddings for so long that sometimes it's easy to forget what had brought me here in the first place. That genuine twinkle of the eyes when they see each other, that crease on the cheek that folds whenever a conversation lit up, or that uncontrollable outpouring of emotions when the seams can't hold it all in any longer. These moments, though rare and so very fleeting, keep reminding me that the human spirit can never be replicated.
And so this begs the very question - What brings you here, my friend?

The winding road.
Life's journey hasn't been straightforward - people come and go, each chasing their own dreams. While some remain for a short while in my life, others wave and say 'Hi' occasionally. I even have the opportunity to photograph them for the second, third or even fourth time, and this is the moment where everything seems to fall into place. Where my path as a photographer makes sense, to connect the dots of life, even though the story is a movie that takes a few years in the making.
It overwhelms me to see Jared and Jiezhen for the umpteenth time over the years, and to be able to witness their little family growing over the years is something that I could never expect when I first documented their wedding day (which year was it - I have lost count!)
Thank you for including me in these magical milestones over the years - it is truly an honour to be a part of your life's journey.

It's been a few weeks since I photographed this amazing wedding, and I still can't shake the vibes off my mind.
The bursts of laughter emanating from the Archana and Arjun still echo somewhere inside me whenever I look through their wedding gallery, and I swear I could smell the musky evening air from that night. We partied away like there was no tomorrow, and to say that all I could see were happy faces was an understatement - the joy was outrageously contagious.
So glad that I was a part of this special wedding, and by a stroke of luck, I will be back at this special venue tomorrow for the wedding of another couple. Can't wait! 😎

Gratefulness.
What words do I even begin with this wedding? A day which had all the elements that I seek out in a wedding - spontaneity, fulfilment, fun and authenticity. Put all these ingredients together (and no, you don't need to spend a bomb on a grand ballroom, fancy dress/shoes, elaborate flowers) with the most important people in your lives, and the outcome is a wild concoction of emotions and unpredictability.
And I definitely had to mention the trust that I received so wholeheartedly from Arjun and Archana. From the first minute we met, I could feel their enthusiasm in the way i approached wedding days, and I really cannot be more grateful to have their unwavering support to photograph their wedding in the best way that I can.
Thank you for leaving me with so many fond memories of your big day!

What makes a wedding?
It's no easy task having to choose 10 slides to make up an IG post - can these images really encapsulate what truly happened on such a day that is chocked full of emotions and randomness? Not to mention that we can't really prepare ourselves fully when the day hits us - there are simply too many arbitrary factors in play that makes every wedding unique.
As difficult as that may sound, I often relish the challenge of presenting a carousel of images that reflects the true spirit of how the wedding went.
And if the net-dwelling citizens who chance upon these images are able to relate to them more than on a surface level, even just for that fleeting moment, i will have considered a job well done.
Special thanks go out to Erika and Ryan for believing in me and having me there on that small-yet-important day - you two are an inspiration!

A morning with the Hendriks.
I got to know Joe and Adiba when they contacted me to be their photographer for their solemnization at home some time back. What struck me at first was how warm they treated me, and despite hiring me to document the day, they encouraged me to keep things real and to go with the flow, keeping things as real as possible.
Fast forward to this day, and I clearly remember arriving for the family session on this particularly sunny Saturday morning, despite rainy weather for the past week or so. We decided to let their kids (and pet dog) be as natural as possible, and not to force any unusual ideas on them. They wanted to document their family life as they remember it, and it warms my heart immensely that I was able to be part of that process.

Blessed.
There's nothing that can quite prepare you for the whirlwind of emotions on a wedding day. Truth to be told, that's the main draw for me all these years, - the sheer unpredictability of what awaits me thrills me and keeps me upbeat, no matter how seemingly 'boring' the itinerary appears to be.
So how fitting it was, as I ended last year with a bang, documenting the full 3 days of Gaya and Oli's indian wedding (it's no secret how much I love weddings of a different culture from mine). It was chocked full of positive emotions and unforgettable moments, and i suspect it won't be anytime soon that I be able to shake off the vibes from that day. More to come from this wedding!
