Breastfeeding is the best first gift a mother can give to her baby. While breastfeeding is a natural process, it can be a very challenging journey that some people may not understand - feeding and pumping around the clock to prevent block ducts and to ensure there’s enough supply, having sleepless nights, suffering from cracked ni***es, stuffing breast pads because of leaky b***s or maybe even crying over spilled milk.

Mothers need lots of support from people around them to get started and to sustain in breastfeeding. Instead of telling a mother that she should stop breastfeeding because it makes her tired, or she should stop breastfeeding because her baby is never full, or asking a mother to feed her baby or pump in the toilet, let’s be more understanding, encouraging and supportive.

And hopefully, with more accessible skilled counselling services and resources for mothers, it can build confidence and empower mothers to give their babies the best start in life and to overcome the challenges faced.

We are now in the 2nd quarter of the year. This is probably one of the many delays in our lives and it is significant because we are all facing it together, globally.

Let’s be at rest in the delay.
Let’s be at rest in the unknown.
Let’s be at peace in the storm.

Probably the delay this season is a divine opportunity for us to learn, grow, change, be more connected in the community, reviving our passion and to reset.

2020 may not go as planned for many of us but what comes next will be far greater, if you trust the process and take advantage of this delay to make it happen.
