A little throwback to a NYE almost ten years ago.
It feels unreal how much life has shifted since then… the people I met, the places I called home, the dreams that fell apart, and the ones that quietly took root. What a journey it has been.

Wishing you all a wonderful New Year’s celebration! And remember — if you’re not feeling the “celebrate-the-way-you’re-supposed-to” vibe, there are always other NYE parties to plan… Chinese New Year 2026, or the Spring Equinox, when nature wakes from winter’s sleep… 🙂

Since 2019... and a whole story of love in between.
When we first met, there was just one tiny heartbeat growing quietly. Today, I look at these images and see a family that has bloomed in front of my lens, not once, but again and again.

Watching your journey has been one of the most heart-melting parts of being a photographer, my dearest Erik & Teres.

From the soft, glowing calm of a maternity session… to the newborn days… to the giggles, the chaos, the held hands, the growing personalities… and now you are 4 to enjoy the adventure.

Every time we meet, your family feels like a chapter I get to return to - a reminder that time moves fast, but photos let us hold onto the sweetest parts.

Collaboration with Zviedrijas latviešu kalendārs. This was definitely one of my favorite and most challenging photoshoots! We had planned the meeting during summer, then had to reschedule, and by the end of September, it’s already dark! And of course, it rained right at the time of our shoot. It wasn’t cold, but the women were in elegant dresses… Yet strong Latvians aren’t afraid of a little rain, so we went out to Odenplan to capture the moment!

At one point, it felt like everything was against us darkness, rain, and one team member struggling to find parking but time kept moving, and the rehearsal space had a strict schedule. Initially, we had a different main shot in mind, but in the end, we managed to take a photo from a window in the dark. Even the shop owner enjoyed the process! 😄 And so did we.

December — the month of theater! Next December, you can spend it with a wonderful theater company featured right on the calendar wall!

Here’s what the Jaunais Stokholmas Latviešu amatierteātris says about themselves:

🔹 We perform theater for both adults and children, mainly in Sweden, but we also travel to perform in other countries.
🔹 We love experimenting and becoming someone we are not in everyday life. And if we can bring joy to our audience while doing it, that’s double the reward.
🔹 We are proud of our versatility — anyone can sing, even if they’ve never sung before, and anyone can dance, even if both feet are “left feet”! One of our greatest achievements was the production of Rolands Atkočūns’ “Selavi!”, which received praise from both the audience and experts.
🔹 Routine is not in our theater’s vocabulary. We coordinate and work in the way that feels best at the moment. For each project, we meet once a week at Teaterverket. Those with theater in their hearts can contact us via Facebook, where all updates are also posted.

Collaboration with Zviedrijas latviešu kalendārs. For those who know these guys, you can probably imagine the fun chaos of this photoshoot - it was supposed to take 10 minutes, but ended up lasting at least 2 hours, chasing cows in a nature park! 😄 But we were all stubborn, and in the end, we found them and got the shot we were after!

The band “Mežciems” comes from a small village on the outskirts of Stockholm, surrounded by forests and meadows. They are also the youngest group in our calendar.

Here’s their story:

🔹 We are three guys from the village of Viby, near Stockholm. We play all kinds of pop and country music, entertaining Latvians (and even Swedes, we’re international!).
🔹 The trio consists of brothers Kristiāns and Olivers Lindholm and our friend Uvis Urtāns. We are looking for more musicians!
🔹 We play music because we love jamming and having fun. Our goal is to bring energy, joy, and sing-alongs to Latvians in Sweden and around the world, with pop and country vibes.
🔹 Highlights: We had the honor of performing at Latvia’s National Day in Alvik, Stockholm, 2024, and we are especially proud of our performances at the Olympic Lāčplēsis events in Sweden and Denmark!

Collaboration Zviedrijas latviešu kalendārs. This was expected to be the most challenging photoshoot, because the group is actually quite large but in the end, only a few came, so the focus shifted to showing how to recognize them as dancers!

The very first group — January in calendar is the Latvian folk dance ensemble "Zibenītis" from Stockholm! Here’s how the lively Zibenītis dancers describe themselves:

🔹 We perform Latvian stage folk dances, bringing joy to ourselves, fellow Latvians, and locals alike.
🔹 We love dancing. Dance combines the enjoyment of music with rhythmic movement and requires energy and endurance. It is both a delight for the soul and a physical workout. Through Latvian folk dance, we stay connected to Latvia, promoting, practicing, and preserving its culture, and cherishing it from afar.
🔹 We have participated in two Latvian Song and Dance Festivals in Riga, receiving high praise in our group performances. We have also taken part in “Dziesma dejo. Deja skan.” shows in Mežaparks, Riga, and regularly travel to collaborate with other Latvian dance groups in the diaspora.
🔹 We meet every Friday evening from 19:00 to 22:00 at Karlsbergsskola, Stockholm. Everyone is welcome experienced dancers and beginners alike (we can teach!). Boys are especially encouraged, but girls are warmly invited too! No age limits.

Collaboration with Zviedrijas latviešu kalendārs. The biggest group! With so many people, capturing everyone with their eyes open - yeah, good luck! 😄 I really wanted the photo to have a characteristic Stockholm background, and here it wasn’t so important to see every face clearly. The larger the group, the less likely that is! So the visual focus here is not so much the individual people, but more Latvians in Stockholm, because the calendar is about us- Latvians in Sweden. Stockholm had to be visible in the background, right? :)

It was lovely to be together and I even wished I could sing! 😄 At least 70% of the choir members were familiar Latvians, which made it really nice to reconnect.

Stokholmas latviešu koris is historically rich and accomplished choir that recently celebrated its 80th anniversary. Here’s what the Stockholmas Latviešu koris, featured on our September page, has to say about themselves:

🔹 We are the oldest and largest Latvian diaspora mixed choir. We spread and preserve Latvian cultural values and heritage, singing both songs by Latvian composers and arrangements of Latvian folk songs in our native language.
🔹 We love singing and meeting like-minded people. The choir’s goal is to maintain and nurture Latvian identity.
🔹 We are proud that our large choir has participated in Latvian Song Festivals in Europe, around the world, and in Latvia, as well as various other cultural celebrations.
🔹 We warmly welcome all aspiring singers to join us. New singers in the tenor and bass sections are especially encouraged. Rehearsals are held every Monday evening in Stockholm’s Old Town (Gamla Stan).
