NEW BOOK: THE EARTH WE SHARE
Pre-order now. Release date: September 14

I am incredibly proud and excited to announce the publication of my new photography book, The Earth We Share. This collection represents the culmination of my work, featuring my best images alongside fresh, new photographs. It is my most significant project to date, highlighting the urgent importance of coexisting with nature in order to save our planet and its wildlife. Here is the back cover text provided by the publisher, Rizzoli New York:

"This breathtaking collection of wildlife photographs presents a powerful appeal to rethink our relationship with nature.
From the plains of Africa to the icy expanses of Antarctica to the rugged American West, the photos reveal the soulful essence of wildlife. Persson’s lens uncovers emotional depth: family bonds, resilience, and the sentient lives behind the animals we too often overlook.
Many of the photos show intimate interactions—parenting lions, herds of elephants, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, cheetah families—while others show a solitary portrait—a male lion, a giant tusker, a grizzly bear, a bull bison in Yellowstone.
This work inspires a profound shift in perspective—championing respect for all living beings and a commitment to sustainable coexistence. For conservationists, nature lovers, and anyone moved by the beauty of the wild, this book turns admiration into action."

Many people wonder if I’m scared when I take photos like this. But I’m never scared. On the contrary, I feel the deepest joy one could possibly feel when I have the opportunity to be approached by a magnificent creature like a rhino. In those moments, everything else around me disappears, and I enter another zone. I feel more alive than ever.
That connection with an animal of such power and grace is a feeling of respect and admiration that surpasses words, a feeling of being part of something bigger than myself. It’s a moment where fear melts away, replaced by awe and gratitude, a reminder of the incredible beauty and strength of nature.

Throughout history, we’ve passionately preserved ancient monuments like pyramids and churches, recognizing their importance as links to our past. Yet, we often overlook the most extraordinary beings on Earth, elephants, living monuments of nature that have roamed long before any man-made structure. These gentle giants are treasures of our planet, symbols of resilience and beauty.
It’s our duty to protect them from threats like poaching and habitat loss. If we can preserve our historic landmarks, we must also do everything possible to ensure elephants’ survival, so their grace and spirit continue to enrich our world for generations to come.

Animals, like us, are living souls.
They are not things. They are not objects. Neither are they human. Yet they mourn. They love. They dance. They suffer. They know the peaks and chasms of being.

The true meaning of life on Earth should not be defined by how much we possess, how much we seek to dominate, or the marks we leave in our quest for power. Instead, it is found in the gentle way we choose to walk upon this Earth. Our greatest legacy is not rooted in conquest or accumulation, but in our ability to coexist harmoniously with the beautiful nature that surrounds us. It is about ensuring that our presence does not bring destruction, but rather nurtures and preserves the fragile wonder of the world we are privileged to share.

In the animal kingdom, every species holds an irreplaceable place and deserves our deepest compassion. Only when we learn to truly cherish and embrace each creature’s unique existence can we gain the full understanding and vision needed to safeguard Mother Nature.

I have always been captivated by the beauty of the leopard. However, capturing their true essence is no easy task. They are far more impressive in person than any camera could ever fully convey. Its beauty is universal, transcending trends and personal preferences. It speaks directly to our souls. Long after you've seen a leopard, the sense of awe and ecstasy remains with you, enriching your spirit and reminding you of the incredible wonders of nature and the beauty it holds. A beauty worth fighting to preserve.

Craig, the majestic tusker whose presence touched the lives of so many. He was more than just an elephant; he was a symbol of resilience, grace, and the silent strength of nature’s most gentle giants. From the moment he first roamed the wilderness, Craig carried himself with a dignity that commanded respect. His towering figure and grand tusks told stories of countless journeys, battles, and moments of quiet reflection. Yet, beneath that formidable exterior was a soul full of gentle wisdom and silent kindness. Craig’s eyes held a story, a story of survival, of navigating the changing landscape of his world with quiet resilience. He was a reminder of the fragility and strength that coexist in every living being. To those who had the privilege of witnessing his presence, Craig was more than an animal; he was a teacher, a guardian, and a symbol of hope.
