We are delighted to announce the winner of Landskrona Foto & Breadfield Dummy Award 2026:

Garden Sounds by Liubov Durakova (UA) ✨📚📚

Motivation:
Can sound be conveyed through the pages of a book?
Garden Sounds by Liubov Durakova convinces us that it can. We hear the wind rustling through the trees, birdsong, and a dog barking in the distance.
But we also hear war.

Through a quiet and restrained photographic
language, Durakova transports us to a garden where war has left no visible traces, yet its presence
is inescapable. The softly luminous photographs
could just as easily have been taken a hundred years ago, reminding us that the shadow of war has accompanied humanity throughout history.
Yet this is not a story of the past, it is a story of the present.

It is in the tension between the seemingly peaceful idyll
and the constant awareness of an ever-present threat
that the work finds its extraordinary power.

The Japanese artist Hideyuki Ishibashi is visiting Malmö to plan the publication of Stjernhimmeln (The Heavenly Sky, 2018 - 2025) with Breadfield Press. The book is scheduled for release next year.

STJERNHIMMELN - Strindbergs Celestographs

Sweden’s most celebrated and most controversial author and playwright in the decades at times deeply absorbed by experiments in physics, chemistry, alchemy, photography, painting . . . Every scientific and artistic discipline captivated August Strindberg
to some degree, occasionally provoking euphoria, sometimes resignation, at worst psychotic episodes.

Hideyuki Ishibashi has taken a keen interest in the work of August Strindberg, particularly his unique celestographs. The photographs in which Strindberg, without camera or lenses, believed he had captured the undistorted night sky above the Dornach estate belonging to his wife Frida Uhl’s grandparents in Austria in 1893–94. Only sixteen unfixed paper copies from glass plates exist today – inexorably doomed to blacken over time.

Hideyuki Ishibashi raises subtle questions about the essence of photography, about truth and delusion, about the past and the future.

People Have Always Told Stories | Lars Dyrendom & Inuk Jørgensen

Two intertwined artistic narratives expose how Greenland’s histories are shaped by colonial power, forgotten voices, and living memory — contrasting archival hierarchies with oral resistance while confronting the ongoing exploitation of land, people, and truth.

Some stories end up in archives, while others live on through oral tradition. Some become official truths; others are forgotten or rendered invisible. Stories have always existed, yet they are shaped, erased, or reclaimed depending on power, place, and time. Lars’ and Inuk’s work represent two narratives that, in different ways, illuminate Greenland’s history, memory, and colonial structures — both past and present. Lars’ Danish project uses the archival backs of photographs, where notes and names reveal power hierarchies: the Danish members of the expedition are identified with full names, titles, and clear subjectivity, while the Inuit are objectified and described as types. Inuk’s Greenlandic project, based on oral memories and landscapes, gives voice to personal and collective heritage and addresses issues such as uranium mining near the mountains — where extractive interests continue to fuel Western consumerism with little regard for nature, animals, or human life. The work also creates an encounter between photographic and filmic media in book form.
