Celebrated British artist David Hockney dies aged 88 https://www.bbc.com/news/live/c4gye2zk29zt
What a wonderful tribute to one of the globally greatest of our times, an restlessly experimenting artist of joy, life and peace.
I have followed his ever-changing creativity since the mid-1960s and been hugely inspired. Although I never met him, his death feels like a personal loss.
Never underestimate how peace, art and culture survive where uncivilised politicians, profit-maximisers, militarists and other narrow-minded people perish. And how nonviolence - like art - lasts longer than violence.
Thanks, David, for having been an embodiment of that easily forgotten truth.
