Maëlick in the North

Maëlick in the North Toy Photography in the North. From Belgium, currently living in Northern Finland. I share my love for Toys and the Nordic Outdoors through photography.

I am a toy photographer from Belgium currently living in Northern Sweden. I describe myself as a travel toy photographer. I use toys, mainly but not exclusively LEGO Minifigures, as a way to express and share the feeling of Wanderlust I experience while being outdoor, either at home or around the world.

Bye bye Oulu... Hello Luleå.

I've been radio silent on Instagram for 6 months, and much has happened, including procrastinating with posting anything online.

I started a new job in Luleå and moved from Finland to Sweden. Since then, my photography has been slow for various reasons. One of them is losing my favorite photography spot and not being able to find something similar close to home. It's quite likely that this trend will continue next year.

Yesterday was my last day at work after five years and a half. It's time to turn the page and close a chapter of my life that started 15 years ago.

Final set of curated LEGO Elves photos on my personal website. This time it's the turn of the magical creatures, including a few intruders that might not be genuine LEGO Elves ;-)

Time for another set of curated images on my personal website. This time the Elves are enjoying the winter fun. This set is probably the one with the a majority of never published before photos, and also with the most recent photos.

More curated LEGO Elves photos on my personal website. This time it's the Elven School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Atop Flakstadtind

Today I posted another set of curated LEGO Elves photos on my personal website, this time focusing on the dragons. It includes a few never published before photos, like this one taken in Norway almost four years ago.

It's been 8 months since I last posted here, and almost a year since I deserted social media. Since then, I've been trying to recover from my creative burnout and I've been going back to toy photography at a slow pace.

It's now clear that I need to redefine my photography. It's something that will take some time. In the meantime, I've also spent quite a lot of effort sorting and organizing old pictures with the goal of centralizing them on my personal website as curated galleries.

I've already posted several of them. Most include old photos from old projects that I had already shared, including a final selection of , a sub-selection of , or an "archive gallery" of my photos with Master Yoda and Admiral Ackbar.

But some also include photos that are several years old, like this one, and that I never shared. I'm now dealing with the last big chunk of photos I need to curate, the one about the Elves, and I will keep updating my personal website with them over the coming weeks... And maybe also post a few of the previously unpublished ones on social media if I find the motivation for it?

is over... Once again lots of fun. I'm much happier about my paint job with the 3D figure we got than last time. Here is Skoria the Scorcher, a demon who craves ice cream but can't taste any because his skin is made of molten rocks.

(There's a full story at featuring a special guest who has been cropped out from one of the square photos 🤭)
