Ending the year the same way I do every year since 2019, with a photoshoot in Kullaberg.
As I said before, Kullaberg is a fantastic place all year round for hiking, but during the winter it's not really photogenic, sometimes it's difficult to find an interesting subject to photograph, but it's kind of a blessing in disguise because it's forcing me to look at things that usually go unnoticed or just forces me to be more creative.
Thank you for your support in 2025.
Here's to a better, more successful upcoming year!

Friday night I spent a night in the woods with a friend, just to chill off and spend time in nature. As an inspiring landscape photographer there's no such thing as simply chill and having a good time without thinking about the opportunities the winter landscapes have to offer, so while packing my bag with the absolutely necessary things, my Nikon D600 paired with the 17-35 f2.8 found its place (together with the tripod of course) inside. I knew that there would be snow and cold (-6° C when we arrived), and I also knew that the Milky Way would be visible if the skies were clear.
Luckily the sky was cooperative, and shortly after arriving I already grabbed a few photos, this being a horizontal panorama consisting of 4 images stacked together in Adobe Lightroom.

At the end of August I drove one and a half hours to photograph the Milky Way and finally met
A nice dark sky with very little light pollution and a fairly cold night meant good visibility and despite the cold we had fun shooting until around 3:30 in the morning.
Hopefully this week the weather will be kind and I can create more Milky Way photos in Kullaberg.

Minimalism.

It's been almost 6 years since I picked up my first camera. All this time I tried to shoot anything and everything, but landscapes and woodland photography is what I enjoy the most. What I never got was a minimalist shot, until I stumbled upon this rock in the sea with the moody sky. I tried different angles and focal lengths, polarizer and ND filter as well until it looked good.

Ironically, shortly after I came back to this location to shoot the lunar eclipse, just for my beloved Nikon D600 (paired with my Tamron 150-600) to fall from the tripod. After a few stressful days and many calls I had to realize that the repair costs are not worth it. Luckily the lens is intact, with just a barely visible scratch on the hood.

Relaxing on a fallen tree.

Back in April I had to wait around 90 minutes for my wife in Helsingborg, so I took the camera and my big telephoto lens, trying to spot the tawny owl living at the Sofiero Palace. I walked around carefully, first near the path, then I ventured into the forest with no sighting of it. But at a moment I heard some knocking noise not far on the left, so I turned very carefully, and I saw this woodpecker perched on a fallen tree. I zoomed in to 600mm and took maybe ten shots and it jumped down behind the tree and I couldn't see it, then after maybe 20 seconds it flew back and it posed perfectly for me. I felt lucky and satisfied, because even if I didn't find the owl I got home with a few wonderful images, due to the fact that I was eager of my surroundings.

Many times when we go out shooting we have a preconceived image in our heads, and we come back disappointed because maybe the weather, the light or whatever reason it doesn't turn out how we wanted it to be. Often I am no exception to this but it's something I'm trying to work on.

Do you adapt to the conditions that you're handed or just pack up and go home hoping for better conditions next time?

Last autumn when I went to Söderåsen National Park for what was the last of the colors I wandered into the forest looking for a photograph to be made I met this small tree growing quite far from the others, in a rather dense forest. As if the old big trees moved away to let the Sun and rain reach the small one. It felt like a group of elders were making way for a younger generation. I spent some time trying to make the scene justice, played around with some compositions and angles but it was hard to get the desired look. I used my 17-35mm lens but getting up close was distorting the big trees way more than I wanted, so I stepped back and took a horizontal panorama, if we can call a stitch of 2 photos a panorama. Luckily there was technically no wind so I didn't have to worry about any movement of the branches.

This post is a long way coming. I started writing it more than three weeks ago, saved it as a draft to continue writing after work but somehow the draft disappeared (thanks IG).

As I wrote in that draft, I've been missing from Instagram, now for almost 2 months. This is due to what I've been experiencing ever since I started, during the winter, creative burnout. The very short days here in Sweden are restricting even more the shooting opportunities, the dull sky, colorless landscape and the fact that I became more and more self critical of my work mean that during these days the only time I went shooting it was during foggy weather, which is not always going to the plan. Maybe 3-4 years ago I would have got excited for these photos, but nowadays it's just one of those natural things. Add the stress of moving soon to a bigger apartment, planning to build a small home studio and there's no time to be active on social media.

Now I would like to ask You, if this is happening with all of you or I'm an isolated case? 😅 If you feel the same, what do you do to escape this creative burnout?

I would like to hear your thoughts/opinions on this issue.

Dramatic skies over Otta, Norway 🇸🇯

Do you know that feeling when something feels like it was yesterday but at the same time like an eternity ago?

This is how I feel about Norway. It has been a little over one and a half years since I've been there, since I saw jaw dropping landscapes and fjords, lush green forests, mountain top lakes and pristine clean rivers, and I've been longing for more ever since.

Have you been to Norway 🇸🇯? How was it for you?
