I photographed this portrait in high-key light to remove distraction and let the face reveal itself. This image is part of my project i will always be a stranger — a series of portraits of people with albinism from different racial backgrounds that documents their experiences and the isolation many face. The portrait presents a measured gaze that expresses both vulnerability and resilience; I approached it with care and honesty.

Stereotypes is a thought-provoking portrait series that challenges our instinctive judgments. At first glance, each face invites a familiar narrative, shaped by cultural biases and personal assumptions. But when the full image is revealed, the story shifts—forcing us to reconsider the conclusions we form based on limited visual information.

This project illuminates how we categorize people unconsciously, often without realizing the depth of their reality. By confronting these assumptions, Stereotypes compels the viewer to question their perceptions and embrace the complexity behind every individual.

As a shortlisted series in the Sony World Photography Awards, this work is more than photography—it’s a statement on how we see and understand the world around us.
