We put the OCF Hyper Performance Reflector and an Elinchrom Three in the hands of Elinchrom ambassador Ben Girardi Ben Girardi to see if it would be helpful in the somewhat challenging situation and environments he is often facing during his assignments.

This is what he said;

“This was a spec project where I wanted to showcase trail running in an alpine environment that was rugged and raw. In order to get to this glacier we had to hike in and approach via a steep rocky chute. It wasn’t super far, but weight definitely was a consideration when packing.

Shooting in the bright sun in the mountains can leave you with contrasty images with a dramatic difference between light and shadow. I was able to rely on the Hyper Performance Reflector, not only is it’s small design simple and easy to pack in a bag that is already full of other gear, it also gives me enough control of the light
in the bright conditions. With the action the lights can’t be super close, so I needed the throw to get the distance and be able to fill in the shadows.

Once the sun was gone I was also able to use it to mimic the directional light of the sun and match the feel of the images from earlier in the day.”

Vilken fantastisk söndag vi fick tillsammans! 📸

Stort tack till alla er som deltog i vår Fine Art Outdoor-workshop med Therese Asplund. En heldag fylld av kreativitet, fotografering och förhoppningsvis en hel del ny kunskap och inspiration att ta med hem!

Under dagen pratade Therese om hela processen bakom sina Fine Art-porträtt, från idé, planering till hur man hittar och använder en miljö för att förstärka känslan i bilden. Sedan begav vi oss ut i närliggande Marabouparken för att omsätta teorin i praktiken.

Deltagarna fick bland annat arbeta med att kombinera det befintliga dagsljuset med blixt och lära sig hur man först exponerar för den miljö och känsla man vill ha och därefter adderar blixtljuset för att forma motivet. Målet är inte att blixten ska ta över bilden, utan att få full kontroll över ljuset och kunna skapa precis det uttryck man är ute efter. ⚡️

Och vilka motiv vi hade! 😍 Ett extra stort tack till våra fantastiska modeller Ida och Hedda, som verkligen gick all in och hjälpte oss att skapa magi bland grönskan.

Tack Therese för all kunskap, energi och inspiration och tack till alla deltagare för er nyfikenhet, kreativitet och härliga stämning. Det är precis sådana här dagar som gör workshops så roliga! ❤️

Say hi to Giacomo everyone!

”Giacomo Maestri Giacomo Maestri is an Italian commercial photographer known for corporate portraiture and industrial environments with a cinematic sense of light. From factory floors to operating theatres, he gives executives, engineers and specialists the presence of a studio portrait without ever removing them from the place that explains their work.

He came to photography from a degree in business
administration, and still speaks the language of the companies in front of his camera. His work centres on industries that rarely let a camera in, where the picture has to be built, not found.

Steel blues, warm amber, for Giacomo color is a narrative
decision, and light is balanced against the location rather than used to erase it.

His clients include Ducati, Technogym and Amazon, and his work has been published in the Financial Times, Die Zeit and Les Echos. Based in Bologna, Italy, he has been shooting with Elinchrom since 2013.”

Felix Kunze – Shinnecock Bay project

When photography, science and conservation come together. 🌊

Elinchrom Ambassador Felix Kunze recently documented the people and important work behind the Shinnecock Bay Hope Spot in New York. The project brings together marine biologists, conservationists and members of the Shinnecock Indian Nation, all working to protect and restore this unique marine ecosystem. Through a series
of beautiful environmental portraits, Felix puts faces to the work being done and tells the story of the people whose knowledge, dedication and passion are maning a real difference.

It’s also a great example of how thoughtful lighting can help shape a story. Working on location and within the environment itself, Felix uses light to draw attention to his subjects while still allowing the surroundings to remain an important part of each portrait.

Photography has the power to do more than create beautiful images. It can introduce us to people, make us curious and help important stories reach a wider audience.

Meet Ariann everyone!

”Ariann Ariann is a French Canadian photographer and artistic director based in St-Georges, near Quebec City. She is an artist passionate about creating editorial portraiture, bo***ir, conceptual imagery, and signature branding.

Her approach combines artistic direction, emotional presence, and refined lighting to create images that feel powerful, immersive, and unmistakably intentional. Her work blends technical precision with strong artistic direction, creating images that feel both cinematic and deeply human.

After completing her studies at the Marsan College of Photography in Montreal, she moved several times across Canada, allowing her to broaden her horizons and discover various perspectives that would color her works. She is the mother of three magnificent children.
Awarded Canada’s Commercial Photographer of the Year in 2023 by PPOC (Professional Photographers of Canada), along with multiple national and international distinctions, Ariann continuously pushes her creative vision to craft emotionally charged images that are even more striking than the last.”
