Just as mushrooms live in symbiosis with trees, I live in symbiosis with this magical forest & creek 🧚🌲🌿

Every night, I fall asleep to the soothing sound of its little waterfalls. And every day, I go down there several times. It’s closer than a hundred metres from my house & it’s my KRAFTPLATS, as we’d say in Swedish (it sounds more powerful than “power place” in English) 🔮✨

I’ve been playing by this creek ever since I was a child. My grandmother moved into our house when I was just five years old, so these woods & I have been part of each other’s lives for a very long time.

It’s such a special little forest. It’s actually one of the few natural, not planted forests left in Sweden ~ did you know that there is now less than 10% natural forests remaining in our country? 💔🌲

Wildlife at home🦉💗 Remember the project I started years ago, which has been featured in several exhibitions? Well, I still photograph the wild animals around me every day🥰 Actually, now more than ever. I’m taking it even further as I’m documenting the biodiversity of the last remaining forest beside my home ~ a little piece of wild forest that is home to an incredible number of species in such a small area🥹🥰

Here are some of my bird friends ~

Two of the Willow t**s that live here year-round. They are so small & cute😍 I’m so happy they feel safe in this forest, which provides such important habitat for this red-listed species.

And the beautiful Woodpeckers💗 I see them every day in our garden & they often follow us on our walks in the woods🥹

And then one of those moments I’ll never forget. I often see Kestrels around, but one morning recently, four of them sat together & kept eye contact with me, all at the same time, wow😍🙏

I’ve lived in some incredibly wild places around the world & I’ve had many unforgettable wildlife encounters along the way. But somehow, the wildlife experiences I get right here at home in Överkalix are the most magical of all🦌🔮✨

I feel so grateful & always so excited to wake up to another day of living & learning in this little piece of natural wonderland🌲🌿

Wild Orchid ~ Goodyera repens 🔮✨

I am so lucky that I can photograph wild orchids like this beauty in the magical forest right beside our home🌿

This summer I’m spending every free moment studying our local flora, fauna & fungi. It’s something I’ve done, more or less, for most of my life, ever since my grandmother brought me to Naturskyddsföreningen’s nature activity days for kids. But this summer I’ve really taken my learning to the next level ~ when I’m not out in nature, my head is in the books📚

So you can imagine my excitement about finding these beautiful wild orchids just a few steps from my own home, after first seeing them in my books & learning just how special they are🌲🧚

Magic of Nature 🦉🦌🦋🌺🌲🖼️✨

My fifth exhibition at Konst på Berget (Art on the mountain), a wonderful event organized yearly by true community champions (in Swedish we’d call them eldsjälar/fire-souls, people who put their whole heart & soul into making something happen)🔮✨

I’m so so so grateful for the opportunity to showcase my work and, above all, spread nature’s magic, as that is what I’m most passionate about in this life💗

I’m also so grateful to everyone who bought prints & framed photo-art from me yesterday. There are now so many of my photographs spreading nature’s magic in homes & workplaces, and that’s just incredible to me.

I also raised some money for nature conservation, as I donate 20% of the profit from every wildlife photograph I sell to a nature protection organization, so that feels extra meaningful🧚

I met so many wonderful people, had amazing conversations, and this day will warm my heart all the way until it’s time again next year.

I’m also so much more motivated to attend more events. Most of the time I prefer being home in my garden & out in the woods, surrounded by animals only, but yesterday it was actually so lovely to be surrounded by people for a change ~ so if you know of any events where you think I should showcase my photography & spread nature’s magic, please let me know in the comments below.

Yesterday evening, deer mommy Daisy came by our garden as usual, and from the bushes behind her I could hear her son beeping playfully, so it seems all is well with the little one!!🙏🥹🥰

This experience has inspired me to start sharing more from my magical fairytale life here by the Arctic Circle in Sweden again, so I’m going to give it a go🔮✨
