New journal entry: “Midwinter in the Forest of the Hawk Owl” from my project The Old Forest is now available to read on my website. Welcome to follow me into the depth of the midwinter forest.

My January journey through the boreal forest follows a frozen river to a small mountain, where giant pines rise. A Hawk Owl accompanies me along the way, lifting my spirits and stirring a deep reverence for the land.

”It suddenly clears. Through the fog, the distinctive shape of Oarjemus Stubbá rises on the horizon.

After days of darkness, I see colours: the soft pink pastels of the sky against the cooler tones of the land. The lack of colour over the past days has made me appreciate them even more. My eyes seem more sensitive to the light.

I barely have time to set up the camera and make a couple of exposures before the fog returns, embracing the landscape once more.”

In December, I set out on wooden skis into the heart of Muddus National Park. Ten days of snow, darkness, and subtle midwinter light became a journey of stillness and quiet hardship.
In Darkness, Light shares the quiet moments, the cold, and the beauty of midwinter I experienced in the taiga.

One year ago today, I released my debut project Moments in the Wilderness. A film and print portfolio exploring the seasons and the light, capturing quiet, fleeting moments that reveal the spirit of the land.

The work reflects patience, curiosity, and my deep connection with nature. It has been wonderful to see how these moments have resonated with so many of you — thank you for all the kind messages I’ve recieved throughout the year.

If you haven’t yet experienced it, the film and print portfolio are available on my website. Perhaps now is the perfect time to step into the work and experience these moments for yourself — link in bio:

New journal from The Old Forest: Into Midwinter. Join me as I ski across vast marshlands and through old forests on three-meter-long wooden skis, enjoying the low November sun, the warmth of a small cabin, the short, cold days, and quiet moments with the taiga’s wildlife. I’m proud to announce that my project The Old Forest has been granted funding by Strangells Stiftelse. I’m deeply grateful for their support in bringing this work to life. And there’s quite a good story behind this that I hope to tell further down the road.

I’m back from two weeks of fieldwork on my new project, The Old Forest, and I want to share a special moment with you:

”Then I hear it — the hauntingly beautiful call of a red-throated loon echoing through the silence of dawn. It stirs something deep inside me, adding kindling to the embers, and the fire comes to life once again.”

From my latest journal entry, The Land of the Loon. Read the full piece on my website — link in the comments below.
