You can't force creativity. Sometimes all you can do is slow down and let it find you.
Day two at Västerås Summer Meet wasn't clicking creatively. Nothing I shot felt quite right, and I wasn't about to head home empty handed. Then I spotted a place where I could just sit down and watch the show cars roll in.
So I grabbed a blanket, got down almost to ground level and started shooting.
Turns out that was exactly the reset I needed. Sometimes the best photos aren't about finding a better subject. They're about finding a different perspective.

Västerås Summer Meet, you were an absolute dream.

This weekend was filled with classic cars, pinup magic, killer style, and the kind of creative energy that feels right at home for us. We had so much fun meeting, creating, and capturing so many beautiful moments. Our SD cards are officially overflowing with hundreds of thousands of images, and we cannot wait to start bringing them to life.

Chrome Velvet Studios will absolutely be returning next year to create even more beautiful art. The classic cars, the pinup looks, the people, the atmosphere. It is so up our alley.

If we worked and created with you this weekend, please DM me, Red and Chris, or Red Kulis so we can get your model release filled out and send over your images as soon as they are edited.

We are hoping to attend even more events to soak up the chrome, the vintage, the rock ’n’ roll energy, and all the stunning humans who make this community so special.

Some people hear När vindarna viskar mitt namn and think of Melodifestivalen.
I think of summer.
The song was absolutely everywhere that summer and has been permanently welded to Midsummer, flower crowns, and long summer nights in my mind ever since.
I still remember when Pontare stepped onto the Melodifestivalen stage in an outfit that the internet would have handled with all the nuance and restraint we've come to expect from the internet. The 90s and early 2000s got away with so much stuff.

Anyways with Midsummer's Eve just around the corner, Red Kulis and I slipped out into the evening light to capture a little bit of summer magic ahead of time. Her first Swedish Midsummer is still waiting, but at least we've already checked the flower crowns off the list.

Last time I asked if you prefer color or black and white. This time it wasn't even a question. I started color grading this and just a few small adjustments in I realized I was done, the vintage color was there before I knew it.

One of my absolute favorite frames from Capture Saga, largely because of its simplicity.
I experimented a lot during the event and tried a few ideas that I’ll share eventually, but this quiet moment with Misa ended up standing out the most.

Misa is a joy to work with and incredibly solid in her craft. Pair that with strobe and natural light doing a careful tango, and it became one of those setups that’s just fun to explore.

We shot this on the large stone staircase leading to the second floor. This single frame alone made hauling a big strobe and modifier through a small castle worth it.

Castles sound grand in theory, but Bogesunds Slott is full of tight corridors and cozy rooms. Maybe that says something about the Swedish love for privacy and personal space.

It’s been a little over three years since this was taken.

In that time, life has done what it does best. Ups and downs, stumbles and resets. We’ve cried, we’ve laughed, said hello, and been forced to say goodbye far too many times. And somehow, through all of that, we’re still here.

Some odd number of years later. Still friends. Still talking way too much. Still laughing way too hard. Still showing up.

That kind of friendship is rare. And if you’re lucky enough to have someone like that in your life, don’t take it for granted. Hold onto it.

Here’s to many more years. More conversations that go nowhere. More tears of joy. And more moments that make absolutely no sense to anyone else.
