من أهداف إدارة مشاريع جلسات التصوير عندنا أن تكون التجربة أكثر من مجرد تصوير… نبحث عن القصة والمعنى قبل الصورة. 📸🎥🎞️
في هذه الجولة كانت برفقتنا المرشدة السياحية مروة الصعيدي، وكل الشكر لها على المعلومات القيّمة التي شاركتنا بها عن جدة التاريخية والتي جعلت كل صورة تحمل قيمة أكبر.

في عام 2014 أُدرجت جدة التاريخية (جدة، بوابة مكة) على قائمة التراث العالمي لليونسكو، تقديرًا لقيمتها التاريخية والمعمارية. وجاء اختيارها لأنها تمثل تبادلًا حضاريًا وثقافيًا مهمًا عبر البحر الأحمر، وتُعد نموذجًا مميزًا للعمارة الحجازية التقليدية، كما ارتبطت تاريخيًا بدورها بوابةً رئيسيةً للحجاج القادمين إلى مكة المكرمة عبر البحر.

In 2014, Historic Jeddah (Al-Balad), the Gate to Makkah, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List for its outstanding historical and architectural value. It was recognized for reflecting centuries of cultural exchange across the Red Sea, representing a remarkable example of traditional Hijazi architecture, and serving as the historic gateway for pilgrims traveling by sea to Makkah.

هل كنت تتوقع أن هذا الحجر بدأ رحلته في البحر؟

Did you know this stone began its journey in the sea?

الحجر المنقبي ما كان يُنقل من الجبال بل كان يُستخرج من المناطق المرجانية الضحلة على ساحل البحر الأحمر ومن مناطق مثل بحر الأربعين ثم يُقطع ويُشكّل يدويًا قبل استخدامه في بناء بيوت جدة التاريخية.

Manqabi stone was not brought from the mountains. It was extracted from shallow coral reef areas along the Red Sea coast, including Bahr Al-Arbaeen, then carefully cut and shaped by hand before being used in the construction of Historic Jeddah’s houses.

كل حجر في هذه البيوت يحمل جزءًا من تاريخ جدة، وما زال يروي قصة الحرفيين الذين صنعوه وبنوا به.

أنا ما أمر على المكان مرور عابر
أوقف… وأتأمل.
أتأمل الحجر ودقة الصنعة
وكيف كل تفصيلة كانت تُنفذ بعناية.
وكل ما دققت أكثر اكتشفت تفاصيل ما كنت أشوفها من قبل

Inever pass by a place like this without stopping.
I pause… and take it all in.
The stone. The craftsmanship. The details shaped with such care.
And every time I look closer, I discover something new.

هل تعلمون أن الحجر اللي بُنيت فيه كثير من بيوت جدة التاريخية هو الحجر المنقبي؟
وهو حجر جيري مرجاني كان يُستخرج من الشعاب المرجانية الضحلة على ساحل البحر الأحمرثم يُقطع ويُشكّل يدويًا قبل استخدامه في البناء.

وراء كل معلومة أنشرها عن جدة التاريخية رحلة تبدأ من الكتب والمراجع بعدين أروح أشوفها على أرض الواقع.

إذا قرأت مثلًا عن الحجر المنقبي، أبحث عن تفاصيله بين بيوت البلد أقارن بين اللي قرأته واللي أشوفه وأسأل المختصين عن طريقة استخدامه في البناء.

ومهما قرأت وبحثت، تظل جدة التاريخية تبهرني في كل زيارة؛ فهي مو مجرد مبانٍ قديمة
بل موقع تراث عالمي يحمل تاريخًا وعمارة وحكايات ما تنتهي.

Did you know that many of the historic houses in Historic Jeddah were built using Manqabi stone? It is a coral limestone quarried from the shallow coral reefs of the Red Sea, then cut and shaped by hand before being used in construction.

Every piece of information I share about Historic Jeddah begins with books and trusted references, then continues on the streets of Al-Balad.

When I read about Manqabi stone, I go to see it in person, compare what I learned with what I observe, and ask specialists how it was traditionally used in construction.

No matter how much I read or research, Historic Jeddah continues to inspire me with every visit. It is more than just old buildings—it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with history, remarkable architecture, and stories waiting to be discovered.

📸 قصة رحلتي مع الهندسة المعمارية لبيوت جدة التاريخية

بدأت رحلتي في جدة التاريخية بحثًا عن الفن ولكن مع مرور الوقت قادني الفضول إلى عالم الهندسة المعمارية.

كنت أزور البلد صباحًا لألتقي بالمهندسين والعاملين في مشروع الترميم وأسألهم عن مواد البناء وأساليب الترميم والأسرار التي حافظت على هذه البيوت التاريخية عبر السنين. وفي المساء، كنت أجلس مع أهل البلد أستمع إلى حكاياتهم فأتعلم منهم تفاصيل لا أجدها في الكتب.

وعندما أحتاج إلى لحظة هدوء كنت أحمل كاميرتي وأجلس في أحد مقاهي البلد أستمتع بأغاني طلال مداح وأتأمل المكان
حتى المقاهي هناك كانت تحمل روح الفن وكأن كل زاوية في جدة التاريخية تحكي قصة.

📸 My Journey with the Architecture of Historic Jeddah Homes

My journey in Historic Jeddah began with a passion for art. Over time, however, my curiosity led me into the fascinating world of architecture.

In the mornings, I would visit Al-Balad to meet the engineers and restoration teams working on the historic buildings. I was always eager to ask about the original building materials, restoration techniques, and the secrets that have preserved these remarkable homes for generations.

In the evenings, I would sit with the local residents, listening to their stories and learning details that could never be found in books.

Whenever I needed a quiet moment, I would take my camera and sit at one of Al-Balad’s cafés, listening to the timeless songs of Talal Maddah while taking in the atmosphere. Even the cafés carried an artistic spirit, as if every corner of Historic Jeddah had it

بيت نصيف… أشهر بيوت جدة التاريخية

يُعد بيت نصيف من أشهر البيوت التاريخية في جدة، ولم يأتِ تميّزه من حجمه أو مكانته فقط، بل من تصميمه المعماري الذي يعكس ذوق تلك الحقبة.

كانت الأسر الكبيرة في جدة تهتم ببناء منازلها بأساليب معمارية تجمع بين الطابع الإسلامي والتأثيرات القادمة من مختلف أنحاء العالم الإسلامي. ويرجع ذلك إلى التنوع السكاني الذي عُرفت به جدة، حيث استقرت فيها عائلات تعود أصولها إلى مناطق ودول مختلفة داخل الجزيرة العربية وخارجها.

هذا التنوع ترك أثرًا واضحًا على العمارة، فكان البعض يستلهم تفاصيل منازل طفولته أو ما ورثه عن آبائه، لتظهر بيوت جدة التاريخية بتصاميم فريدة تمزج بين الأصالة والتنوع الثقافي، وكان بيت نصيف أحد أبرز النماذج التي ما زالت تروي هذه الحكاية حتى اليوم.

Nasseef House is one of the most iconic historic homes in Jeddah. Its significance lies not only in its history but also in its remarkable architectural design, which reflects the refined taste of its era.

Prominent families in Jeddah paid great attention to building homes that combined Islamic architectural elements with influences from other parts of the Islamic world. This was a natural result of Jeddah’s diverse population, as many families traced their origins to different regions both within and beyond the Arabian Peninsula.

This cultural diversity left a lasting mark on the city’s architecture. Many homeowners drew inspiration from the houses they grew up in or from the architectural traditions passed down through their families. As a result, Historic Jeddah became home to unique buildi
