I WISH IT COULD HAVE BEEN ANOTHER WAY
As I was sitting on a plane to Kyrgyzstan to pick Mishina up after her long winter sleep, I was listening to an Emerald podcast by Joshua Schrei about grief. At one point, he repeated the words, "I wish it could have been another way." Somehow, those few words perfectly summarized how I've felt over the past year.
The feeling that you bought a dream but, somehow, received a nightmare instead.
It's part of an overlander's life that plans keep changing. But being left alone in Kyrgyzstan with Mishina? That wasn't something I could have imagined even in my wildest dreams. Yet there I was...
And since things can't be another way, it's time to rewrite the story. To take what's left and build a dream from the ashes of what once was.
To start the long journey home.
Or maybe... not yet?
