Welcome to my project about the Portugal's national tree (Quercus suber).
The cork oak can live up to 300 years and during its life it produces c**k, a renewable shell that can be extracted in nine year cycles. This material acts like a thick skin making this species one of the most fire-resistant. Portugal is the world's largest producer of cork, which can be used for many purposes, including spacecraft protection.
In this project I intend to show these trees not only as a product or utility, but as natural beings full of character and beauty.
