On the last day I visited Castelo does Mouros. First settled by the Arabs in 1035 and then renovated by the Nords in 1136. I bloody love castles.

I had to hike 1.5 hours to get to Pena Palace and oh boy, was it worth it. Pena Palace is mental. From the outside, it's unlike any palace I've ever visited. Each part is painted or tiled in a different colour - beautiful!

I especially loved all the individually tiled and pastel painted buildings. Tiling must have taken ages!

Let me tell you, I did not pack well for this trip. Flowy dresses and wedges were all I had in my bag. Had to buy trainers. Worth it.

I was so surprised (and delighted) at how mountainous Crete is! We walked down the Agia Irini Gorge and it was GORGEous.
