Night drives are not my favourite. Photographing is challenging, and the images don’t always do the moment justice.

But there is something truly special about the African night.

The subtle movements around you, the rush of air as an owl lands silently in a tree, the call of a bushbaby, the soft rustle of grass revealing an animal nearby… every sound seems amplified.

And when that animal is a leopard, everything changes.

There is a magical moment when the predator emerges from the darkness. You don’t just see it, you feel it. Instinct tells you it’s there.

Silent. Alert. Perfectly at home in the night.

Chobe welcomed me like this, between water, light and rain.
Where the landscape breathes, giants walk, and the river tells stories without words.
