Recently my photo was one of DECADE OF CHANGE's British Journal of Photography Award.
It is now on exhibition at the Belfast Photo Festival. I would love to see it in person Unfortunately I can't go there.
But... The exhibition will be held in October at another international photography festival in Spain. My birthday is on October 4th, no better birthday present than that to be able to see my photo in another country.

What am I asking (LINK BELOW):
You help me to get enough funds to go there and also motivate me to pursue my other photo projects.

What do I give in return:
A printed copy of the awarded image, which deserves to be in one of your walls You have a few options on the perks. If you just want to buy me a coffee, it is also an option

Thanks, Rui

ABOUT THE IMAGE:

In 1992, the Galician village of Aceredo was deliberately flooded and submerged underwater, but every few years when the water levels are low, this eerie 'pueblo' reappears. It all started with an agreement signed in 1968 between the heads of state of Spain and Portugal, Franco and Salazar, to construct the Alto Lindoso Dam. While the dam and the reservoir were great feats of engineering, in order for the project to be possible, it meant that some of the land would have to be lost. Can the constant human change be considered progress?

I'm collecting funds to visit my Photo in Spain. | Check out 'I want to see my Photo in Spain' on Indiegogo.

"Then I started talking about choosing a natural element on the island using it as a metaphor for your experiences. They stared at me, confused. Then one of them said something in Kurdish, and the rest started laughing. I looked at Behrouz like, “What did he say?” And then he said, “They’re asking what language you were speaking in.”

He said the guy who said something in Kurdish was like, “Natural elements? Metaphor? What are you talking about?” Then I realized that this language that we use—it’s art language. It’s not accessible to everyone. I had to apologize and find a different language to explain it in."

"The five men pictured in this series, all over seventy, identify themselves as gay and live in Israel—a land of continuous religious and ideological struggles, where despite progressive reforms in recent decades, LGBTQ+ members are still subjected to legal discrimination, stigmas, and exclusion fueled by influential people and political groups. They agreed to share their stories with me, and over many hours, we talked about aging and dreams, love, exclusion, and fears. Out of these conversations, this series was formed."

“It’s a search for the somber truths about the inevitability of loss, the shame of inaction, and the heavy burden of guilt left in climate change’s now-ineludible path. It’s a love letter and a eulogy to a place that will soon be as spectral as the very memories of it.” – Bryan Thomas

Captured over the course of a two year period, 'The Sea in The Darkness Calls', the ongoing series by award-winning NYC-based photographer, Bryan Thomas, is a poetic visual ode to his native Florida, a state which, due to a dramatic sea levels rise, could be more than 9% underwater by the year 2100....
