Winter on Portugal’s Atlantic coast brings a different kind of light, quieter beaches, powerful seas and some of the most atmospheric conditions of the year.

This is a landscape I know intimately, and one I never tire of photographing.

Porto & Aveiro — Photographing the Place I Call Home

There is something very special about photographing the place where your own journey began.

Porto & Aveiro is the region I call home, and where I first started exploring the landscape through my camera. Today, it is a pleasure to share these places with photographers from around the world.

From the timeless streets of Porto, where medieval character and remarkable architecture meet the Douro River, to the beautiful Douro Valley, shaped by vineyards and centuries of w**emaking tradition, including, of course, the opportunity to experience the world-famous Port w**e.

Further south, Aveiro, often called the Venice of Portugal, reveals a different character: elegant Art Nouveau architecture, colourful moliceiro boats, the traditional ovos moles, and the peaceful landscapes surrounding the Ria de Aveiro.

Cities, rivers, vineyards, Atlantic light, traditional fishing communities and quiet lagoon landscapes, an extraordinary diversity of photography, culture and history within one region.

This is Portugal as I know it.

And it would be my pleasure to welcome you here and photograph it together.
